Journal ArticleDOI

Advances in ultra high molecular weight polyethylene/hydroxyapatite composites for biomedical applications: A brief review.

TL;DR: The use of hydroxyapatite (HA), as reinforcement agent to modify the UHMWPE properties and facilitate biological fixation between the implant and the human cells showed that the addition of HA in polymer matrix result in enhancement of mechanical and tribological properties.
Journal ArticleDOI

A critical review on microplastics, interaction with organic and inorganic pollutants, impacts and effectiveness of advanced oxidation processes applied for their removal from aqueous matrices

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used various analytical tools for identification and characterization of microplastics and their transformation products in environmental compartments, including membrane filtration and coagulation-flocculation-settling treatments.
Journal ArticleDOI

Geopolymers with a high percentage of bottom ash for solidification/immobilization of different toxic metals.

TL;DR: The geopolymers synthesized from bottom ash and metakaolin in a 2:1wt ratio showed a high degree of S/I of the metals; in some samples, the results reached nearly 100%.
Journal ArticleDOI

Lanthanum doped titania decorated with silver plasmonic nanoparticles with enhanced photocatalytic activity under UV-visible light

TL;DR: In this paper, a simple ultrasound-assisted wet impregnation method followed by silver photodeposition was used to obtain photocatalysts with different Ag contents, which were characterized by XRD, FE-SEM, EDX, TEM, BET, XPS, DRS and PL techniques.
