Journal ArticleDOI
The one health concept: 10 years old and a long road ahead
Delphine Destoumieux-Garzón,Patrick Mavingui,Patrick Mavingui,Gilles Boëtsch,Jérôme Boissier,Frédéric Darriet,Priscilla Duboz,Clémentine Fritsch,Patrick Giraudoux,Patrick Giraudoux,Frédérique Le Roux,Serge Morand,Christine Paillard,Dominique Pontier,Dominique Pontier,Cédric Sueur,Yann Voituron +16 more
TL;DR: It is discussed how crucial it is to consider ecological, evolutionary, and environmental sciences in understanding the emergence and re-emergence of infectious diseases and in facing the challenges of antimicrobial resistance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tracking pan-continental trends in environmental contamination using sentinel raptors-what types of samples should we use?
Silvia Espín,Silvia Espín,Antonio J. García-Fernández,Dorte Herzke,Richard F. Shore,B. van Hattum,Emma Martínez-López,Michael Coeurdassier,Igor Eulaers,Clémentine Fritsch,Pilar Gómez-Ramírez,Veerle L.B. Jaspers,Veerle L.B. Jaspers,Oliver Krone,Guy Duke,Björn Helander,Rafael Mateo,Paola Movalli,Christian Sonne,N.W. van den Brink +19 more
TL;DR: The first ever pan-European assessment of which raptor samples are collected across Europe and their suitability for biomonitoring is reported, finding that failed eggs and feathers are the most widely collected samples.
Journal ArticleDOI
An overview of existing raptor contaminant monitoring activities in Europe.
Pilar Gómez-Ramírez,Richard F. Shore,N.W. van den Brink,B. van Hattum,Jan Ove Bustnes,Guy Duke,Clémentine Fritsch,Antonio J. García-Fernández,Björn Helander,Veerle L.B. Jaspers,Oliver Krone,Emma Martínez-López,Rafael Mateo,Paola Movalli,Christian Sonne +14 more
TL;DR: An existing capability across multiple European countries for contaminant monitoring using raptors is revealed, however, coordination between existing schemes and expansion of monitoring into Eastern Europe is needed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Contamination of woody habitat soils around a former lead smelter in the North of France
Francis Douay,Christelle Pruvot,Christophe Waterlot,Clémentine Fritsch,Hervé Fourrier,A. Loriette,Géraldine Bidar,Cécile Grand,A. de Vaufleury,Renaud Scheifler +9 more
TL;DR: The contamination of the topsoil of 262 woody habitats around a former lead smelter in the North of France was assessed to understand and predict the bioavailability, transfer, bioaccumulation and effects of pollutants in food chains.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spatial distribution of metals in smelter-impacted soils of woody habitats: Influence of landscape and soil properties, and risk for wildlife
Clémentine Fritsch,Patrick Giraudoux,Michaël Cœurdassier,Francis Douay,Francis Raoul,Christelle Pruvot,Christophe Waterlot,Annette de Vaufleury,Renaud Scheifler +8 more
TL;DR: Investigating the spatial distribution of total and CaCl(2)-extracted Cd, Pb and Zn concentrations in smelter-impacted soils was investigated over a polluted site in Northern France, it is concluded that total and extracted TM concentrations are governed by different processes which act at various spatial ranges.
