Incidence of venous thromboembolism in patients with cancer-A cohort study using linked United Kingdom databases
TL;DR: VTE is strongly linked to cancer, but the annual rate varies greatly by cancer site, proximity to diagnosis and age, so prophylaxis guidelines should take account of cancer site and such intervention should also be targeted towards the three months following diagnosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Incidence and Prevalence of Celiac Disease and Dermatitis Herpetiformis in the UK Over Two Decades: Population-Based Study
TL;DR: A fourfold increase in the incidence of CD in the United Kingdom over 22 years is found, with large regional variations in prevalence, which could reflect differences in diagnosis between CD and DH and the possibility that diagnosing and treating CD prevents the development of DH.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors explored a specific phenotype of COVID-19-associated hyperinflammation (COV-HI), and its associations with escalation of respiratory support and survival.
Journal ArticleDOI
1 and 5 year survival estimates for people with cirrhosis of the liver in England, 1998-2009: A large population study
TL;DR: The results provide population-based clinically translatable estimates of prognosis for the purposes of healthcare delivery and planning and communication to patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comorbidities affect risk of nonvariceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding.
TL;DR: Nongastrointestinal comorbidity is an independent risk factor for GIB, and contributes to a greater proportion of patients with bleeding in the population than other recognized risk factors.
