Journal ArticleDOI

Case Study: Prolonged Infectious SARS-CoV-2 Shedding from an Asymptomatic Immunocompromised Individual with Cancer.

TL;DR: The data indicate that certain immunocompromised patients may shed infectious virus for longer durations than previously recognized, and detection of subgenomic RNA is recommended in persistently SARS-CoV-2 positive individuals as a proxy for shedding of infectious virus.
Posted ContentDOI

Clinical benefit of remdesivir in rhesus macaques infected with SARS-CoV-2.

TL;DR: Therapeutic remdesivir treatment initiated early during infection has a clear clinical benefit in SARS-CoV-2-infected rhesus macaques and these data support early remdesavir treatment initiation in COVID-19 patients to prevent progression to severe pneumonia.
Journal ArticleDOI

Simultaneous high-resolution analysis of vaccinia virus and host cell transcriptomes by deep RNA sequencing

TL;DR: Deep RNA sequencing was used to simultaneously analyze vaccinia virus (VACV) and HeLa cell transcriptomes at progressive times following infection, revealing two clusters of early mRNAs that were synthesized in the presence of inhibitors of protein as well as DNA synthesis, indicating that they do not correspond to separate immediate- and delayed-early classes as defined for other DNA viruses.
