Variations in particulate matter over Indo-Gangetic Plains and Indo-Himalayan Range during four field campaigns in winter monsoon and summer monsoon: Role of pollution pathways

TL;DR: In this article, in-situ and space-borne observations reveal an extremely high loading of particulates over the Indo-Gangetic Plains (IGP), all year around, since the pollutants undergo long range transport from their source regions to the Indian mainland, leading to an outflow of continental pollutants into the Bay of Bengal (BoB), and a net advection of desert dust aerosols into the IGP from southwest Asia (SW-Asia), northwest India (NW-India) and northern Africa (N-Africa) during summers.
Journal ArticleDOI

Metabolism of DMSP, DMS and DMSO by the cultivable bacterial community associated with the DMSP-producing dinoflagellate Scrippsiella trochoidea

TL;DR: DMS oxidation to DMSO as a major transformation pathway for DMS, and it is speculated that the fate of DMS and DMSP in the field are tightly coupled to the available carbon produced by phytoplankton.
Journal ArticleDOI

Temporal variations in dimethylsulphoniopropionate and dimethyl sulphide in the Zuari estuary, Goa (India).

TL;DR: DMS and DMSP showed high temporal variations with maximal concentrations during the southwest monsoon coinciding with a dinoflagellate bloom, suggesting that much of the DMSP produced is converted to forms other than DMS.
