Journal ArticleDOI

Warmer winters reduce the advance of tree spring phenology induced by warmer springs in the Alps

TL;DR: The hypothesis that a lack of chilling temperature during winter delayed dormancy release and subsequently spring phonological phases could lead to partial dormancy break at lower elevations before the end of the 21st century, which may alter bud development and flowering and so tree fitness.
Journal ArticleDOI

Process-based models outcompete correlative models in projecting spring phenology of trees in a future warmer climate

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compare the efficiency and robustness of correlative and process-based models with contrasting levels of complexity in both historical and future climatic conditions, and conclude that the robustness comes from the fact that they describe causal relationships and their parameters can be directly measured.
Journal ArticleDOI

Best environmental predictors of breeding phenology differ with elevation in a common woodland bird species.

TL;DR: It is found that at low elevation, larch budburst date had a direct influence on egg‐laying date, while at high‐altitude snow melt‐out date was the limiting factor, and factors directly influencing species phenology vary at different elevations.
