Silicate Mineralogy of the Dust in the Inner Coma of Comet C/1995 01 (Hale-Bopp) Pre- and Postperihelion

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present 7.6 - 13.3 microns infrared (IR) spectrophotometry (R approx. = 180 - 350) of the 10 microns silicate emission from dust in the inner coma (i.e., within a diameter of 3in.) of comet C/1995 O1 (Hale-Bopp) at four temporal epochs from 1996 October through 1997 June during the approach to, arrival at, and recession from perihelion.
Journal ArticleDOI

Annealing of Silicate Dust by Nebular Shocks at 10 AU

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that in situ annealing of micron-sized dust grains can occur, obviating the need for large-scale radial transport, and the peak temperatures of pyroxene grains under conditions typical in protoplanetary disks at 5-10 AU.
Journal ArticleDOI

Grain properties of comet c/1995 o1 (hale-bopp)

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the analysis of 7.6-13.2 μm infrared spectrophotometry (R 250) of comet C/1995 O1 (Hale-Bopp), in conjunction with concurrent observations that extend the wavelength coverage of the spectral energy distribution from near-to far-infrared wavelengths.

Grain Properties of Comet C/1995 O1 (Hale-Bopp) Deduced Through Computational Techniques

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present the computational analysis of the 7.6 - 13.2 micrometer infrared spectrophotometry (R approximately equal to 120) of comet C/1995 O1 (Hale-Bopp) in conjunction with concurrent observations which extend the spectral energy distribution from the near-infrared to farinfrared wavelengths.
