Evidence for rapid disc formation and reprocessing in the X-ray bright tidal disruption event candidate AT 2018fyk
Thomas Wevers,Dheeraj R. Pasham,S. van Velzen,S. van Velzen,Giorgos Leloudas,Steve Schulze,James Miller-Jones,Peter G. Jonker,Peter G. Jonker,Mariusz Gromadzki,Erkki Kankare,Simon Hodgkin,Łukasz Wyrzykowski,Z. Kostrzewa-Rutkowska,S. Moran,Marco Berton,Marco Berton,Kate Maguire,Kate Maguire,Francesca Onori,Seppo Mattila,Matt Nicholl,Matt Nicholl +22 more
TL;DR: In this paper, optical spectroscopic and Swift UVOT/XRT observations of the X-ray and UV/optical bright tidal disruption event (TDE) AT 2018fyk/ASASSN-18ul discovered by ASAS-SN were presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
The destruction and recreation of the X-ray corona in a changing-look active galactic nucleus
Claudio Ricci,Erin Kara,Michael Loewenstein,Benny Trakhtenbrot,Iair Arcavi,Ron Remillard,Andrew C. Fabian,Keith C. Gendreau,Zaven Arzoumanian,Ruancun Li,Luis C. Ho,Chelsea L. MacLeod,Edward M. Cackett,Diego Altamirano,Poshak Gandhi,P. Kosec,Dheeraj R. Pasham,James F. Steiner,C.-H. Chan +18 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the drastic transformation of the X-ray properties of the active galactic nucleus (AGN) 1ES 1927+654, following a changing-look event.
Journal ArticleDOI
X-ray Quasi-Periodic Eruptions from two previously quiescent galaxies
R. Arcodia,Andrea Merloni,Kirpal Nandra,Johannes Buchner,Mara Salvato,Dheeraj R. Pasham,Ron Remillard,Johan Comparat,Georg Lamer,Gabriele Ponti,Gabriele Ponti,A. Malyali,J. Wolf,Zaven Arzoumanian,David Bogensberger,David A. H. Buckley,Keith C. Gendreau,Mariusz Gromadzki,Erin Kara,Mirko Krumpe,C. B. Markwardt,Miriam E. Ramos-Ceja,Arne Rau,M. Schramm,Axel Schwope +24 more
TL;DR: Quasi-Periodic Eruptions (QPEs) are extreme high-amplitude bursts of X-ray radiation recurring every few hours and originating near the central supermassive black holes in galactic nuclei as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
A loud quasi-periodic oscillation after a star is disrupted by a massive black hole
Dheeraj R. Pasham,Ronald A. Remillard,P. Chris Fragile,Alessia Franchini,Nicholas C. Stone,Giuseppe Lodato,Jeroen Homan,Deepto Chakrabarty,Frederick K. Baganoff,James F. Steiner,Eric R. Coughlin,Nishanth R. Pasham +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, a stable 131-second x-ray quasi-periodic oscillation from the ASASSN-14li event was observed, which implies that the periodicity originates from close to the event horizon and that the black hole is rapidly spinning.
Journal ArticleDOI
Discovery of a time lag between the soft X-ray and radio emission of the tidal disruption flare ASASSN-14li: Evidence for linear disk-jet coupling
TL;DR: In this paper, a cross-correlation between the soft X-ray (0.3-1 keV) and 16 GHz radio flux of the ASASSN-14li was found.
