Journal ArticleDOI

Decision for retransplantation of the liver: an experience- and cost-based analysis.

TL;DR: The utility of retransplantation in the elective situation is confirmed and should be used with discretion in the emergency setting, and it should be avoided in subgroups of patients with little chance of success.
Journal ArticleDOI

Prospective evaluation of the prognostic scores for cirrhotic patients admitted to an Intensive Care Unit

TL;DR: For cirrhotic patients admitted to the ICU, SAPS II, and SOFA scores predicted ICU mortality better than liver-specific scores and statistical analysis showed that the prognostic severity scores, organ replacement therapy, and infection were accurate predictors of mortality.
Journal ArticleDOI

Long-term follow-up after liver transplantation for autoimmune hepatitis: evidence of recurrence of primary disease

TL;DR: Patients undergoing liver transplantation for autoimmune hepatitis have an excellent survival rate although severe primary disease may recur, suggesting the need for stronger post-operative immunosuppressive therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Human leukocyte antigen-G (HLA-G) expression in biliary epithelial cells is associated with allograft acceptance in liver-kidney transplantation.

TL;DR: HLA-G expression in the liver allograft is associated with a lower frequency of hepatic and renal acute rejection and may be involved in the acceptance of simultaneously transplanted organs.
