Journal ArticleDOI
A follow-up study of cancer incidence among workers in manufacture of phenoxy herbicides in Denmark
TL;DR: The Swedish observation of an increased risk of STS following exposure to phenoxy herbicides unlikely to be contaminated with 2,3,7,8-TCDD supported, but several potential biases have to be taken into account in interpretation of this observation and these are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cancer incidence among firefighters: 45 years of follow-up in five Nordic countries
Eero Pukkala,Jan Ivar Martinsen,Elisabete Weiderpass,Kristina Kjærheim,Elsebeth Lynge,Laufey Tryggvadottir,Pär Sparén,Paul A. Demers +7 more
TL;DR: Examination of patterns of cancer among Nordic firefighters found potential exposure to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, asbestos and shift work involving disruption of circadian rhythms may partly explain these results.
Journal ArticleDOI
Overview of important cervical cancer screening process values in European Union (EU) countries, and tentative predictions of the corresponding effectiveness and cost-effectiveness.
M. van Ballegooijen,E. van den Akker-van Marle,Julietta Patnick,Elsebeth Lynge,Marc Arbyn,Ahti Anttila,Guglielmo Ronco,J. Dik,F. Habbema +8 more
TL;DR: Estimates for a restricted set of well defined parameters - a few for short and long-term coverage and one for the total number of smears - are quite useful for country-specific (cost-)effectiveness evaluations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Lakatos,Zsuzsanna Vegh,Claudia Ott,Gilaad G. Kaplan,Johan Burisch,Jean-Frederic Colombel +29 more
TL;DR: Age at IBD onset to vary with sex is found in a pooled analysis of population-based studies, and mechanisms of sex differences in IBD incidence are investigated.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined cancer mortality in a historical cohort study of 21,863 male and female workers in 36 cohorts exposed to phenoxy herbicides, chlorophenols, and dioxins in 12 countries.
