The pathophysiology of 'happy' hypoxemia in COVID-19.
Sebastiaan Dhont,Eric Derom,Eric Derom,Eva Van Braeckel,Eva Van Braeckel,Pieter Depuydt,Pieter Depuydt,Bart N. Lambrecht,Bart N. Lambrecht +8 more
TL;DR: A thorough understanding of the pathophysiological determinants of respiratory drive and hypoxemia may promote a more complete comprehension of a patient’s clinical presentation and management in COVID-19 patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
An Adjuvanted Polyprotein HIV-1 Vaccine Induces Polyfunctional Cross-Reactive CD4+ T Cell Responses in Seronegative Volunteers
Eva Van Braeckel,Patricia Bourguignon,Marguerite Koutsoukos,Frédéric Clement,Michel Janssens,Isabelle Carletti,Alix Collard,Marie-Ange Demoitié,Gerald Voss,Geert Leroux-Roels,Lisa McNally +10 more
TL;DR: A novel AS01-adjuvanted HIV-1 vaccine candidate consisting of a recombinant fusion protein (F4) containing 4 HIV- 1 clade B antigens induced long-lasting, polyfunctional cross-reactive CD4+ T-cell responses in HIV-seronegative volunteers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vaccine-associated enhanced disease: Case definition and guidelines for data collection, analysis, and presentation of immunization safety data.
Flor M. Munoz,Jakob P. Cramer,Cornelia L. Dekker,Matthew Z. Dudley,Barney S. Graham,Marc Gurwith,Barbara Law,Stanley Perlman,Fernando P. Polack,Jonathan M. Spergel,Eva Van Braeckel,Brian J. Ward,Arnaud M. Didierlaurent,Paul-Henri Lambert +13 more
TL;DR: The Brighton Collaboration Case Definition of the term "Vaccine Associated Enhanced Disease" as mentioned in this paper was developed by a group of experts convened by the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) in the context of active development of vaccines for SARS-CoV-2 vaccines.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of anti-interleukin drugs in patients with COVID-19 and signs of cytokine release syndrome (COV-AID): a factorial, randomised, controlled trial.

Lambrecht +44 more
TL;DR: The COV-AID trial as discussed by the authors showed that IL-1 and IL-6 blockages can shorten the time to clinical improvement in patients with COVID-19, hypoxic respiratory failure, and signs of systemic cytokine release syndrome.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: It is proposed that convalescent plasma might be considered as a treatment option in patients with CVID and severe COVID-19 and a case of a 37-year old male with common variable immunodeficiency disorder and a severe SARS-CoV-2 infection, whose condition improved rapidly after administration of convalescence plasma.
