Profiling Early Humoral Response to Diagnose Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)
Li Guo,Lili Ren,Siyuan Yang,Meng Xiao,De Chang,Fan Yang,Charles S. Dela Cruz,Yingying Wang,Chao Wu,Yan Xiao,Lulu Zhang,Lianlian Han,Shengyuan Dang,Yan Xu,Qi Wen Yang,Sheng Yong Xu,Hua Dong Zhu,Yingchun Xu,Qi Jin,Lokesh Sharma,Linghang Wang,Jianwei Wang +21 more
TL;DR: The humoral response to SARS-CoV-2 can aid in the diagnosis of COVID-19, including subclinical cases, and the detection efficiency by IgM ELISA is higher than that of qPCR after 5.5 days of symptom onset.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of a novel coronavirus causing severe pneumonia in human: a descriptive study.
Lili Ren,Ye Ming Wang,Zhiqiang Wu,Zi Chun Xiang,Li Guo,Teng Xu,Yong Zhong Jiang,Yan Xiong,Li Yongjun,Xing Wang Li,Hui Li,Guo Hui Fan,Guo Hui Fan,Xiao Ying Gu,Xiao Ying Gu,Yan Xiao,Hong Gao,Jiu Yang Xu,Fan Yang,Xinming Wang,Chao Wu,Lan Chen,Yi Wei Liu,Bo Liu,Jian Yang,Xiao Rui Wang,Jie Dong,Li Li,Chao Lin Huang,Jian Ping Zhao,Yi Hu,Zhen Shun Cheng,Lin Lin Liu,Zhao Hui Qian,Chuan Qin,Qi Jin,Bin Cao,Bin Cao,Jianwei Wang +38 more
TL;DR: A novel bat-borne CoV was identified that is associated with severe and fatal respiratory disease in humans and the amino acid sequence of the tentative receptor-binding domain resembles that of SARS-CoV, indicating that these viruses might use the same receptor.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical and epidemiological characteristics of a fatal case of avian influenza A H10N8 virus infection: a descriptive study
Haiying Chen,Hui Yuan,Rongbao Gao,Jinxiang Zhang,Dayan Wang,Ying Xiong,Guoyin Fan,Fan Yang,Xiaodan Li,Jianfang Zhou,Shumei Zou,Lei Yang,Tao Chen,Libo Dong,Hong Bo,Xiang Zhao,Ye Zhang,Yu Lan,Tian Bai,Jie Dong,Qun Li,Shiwen Wang,Yanping Zhang,Hui Li,Tian Gong,Yong Shi,Xiansheng Ni,Jianxiong Li,Jun Zhou,Jiyi Fan,Jingwen Wu,Xianfeng Zhou,Maohong Hu,Jianguo Wan,Weizhong Yang,Dexin Li,Guizhen Wu,Zijian Feng,George F. Gao,Yu Wang,Qi Jin,Mingbin Liu,Yuelong Shu +42 more
TL;DR: The first human infection with a novel reassortant avian influenza A H10N8 virus is reported, which was isolated from a patient from Nanchang City, China and caused human infection and could have been associated with the death of a patient.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genome sequence of Shigella flexneri 2a: insights into pathogenicity through comparison with genomes of Escherichia coli K12 and O157
Qi Jin,Zhenghong Yuan,Jianguo Xu,Yu Wang,Yan Shen,Weichuan Lu,Jinhua Wang,Hong Liu,Jian Yang,Fan Yang,Xiaobing Zhang,Jiyu Zhang,Guowei Yang,Hongtao Wu,Di Qu,Jie Dong,Lilian Sun,Ying Xue,Ailan Zhao,Yishan Gao,Junping Zhu,Biao Kan,Keyue Ding,Shuxia Chen,Hongsong Cheng,Zhijian Yao,Bingkun He,Runsheng Chen,Dalong Ma,Boqin Qiang,Yu-Mei Wen,Yunde Hou,Jun Yu +32 more
TL;DR: The S.flexneri chromosome has, astonishingly, 314 IS elements, more than 7-fold over those possessed by its close relatives, the non-pathogenic K12 strain and enterohemorrhagic O157:H7 strain of Escherichia coli.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genome dynamics and diversity of Shigella species, the etiologic agents of bacillary dysentery
Fan Yang,Jian Yang,Xiaobing Zhang,Lihong Chen,Yan Jiang,Yongliang Yan,Xudong Tang,Jing Wang,Zhaohui Xiong,Jie Dong,Ying Xue,Yafang Zhu,Xingye Xu,Lilian Sun,Shuxia Chen,Huan Nie,Junping Peng,Jianguo Xu,Yu Wang,Zhenghong Yuan,Yu-Mei Wen,Zhijian Yao,Yan Shen,Boqin Qiang,Yunde Hou,Jun Yu,Qi Jin +26 more
TL;DR: Through convergent evolution involving gain and loss of functions, through bacteriophage-mediated gene acquisition, IS-mediated DNA rearrangements and formation of pseudogenes, the Shigella spp.
