Robotic versus laparoscopic resection of liver tumours
Eren Berber,Hizir Akyildiz,Federico Aucejo,Ganesh Gunasekaran,Sricharan Chalikonda,John J. Fung +5 more
TL;DR: The results of this initial study suggest that, for selected liver lesions, a robotic approach provides similar peri-operative outcomes compared with laparoscopic liver resection (LLR).
Journal ArticleDOI
Use of tissue plasminogen activator in liver transplantation from donation after cardiac death donors.
Koji Hashimoto,Bijan Eghtesad,Ganesh Gunasekaran,Masato Fujiki,Teresa Diago Uso,Cristiano Quintini,Federico Aucejo,Dympna Kelly,Charles Winans,David P. Vogt,Brian M. Parker,Samuel Irefin,Charles Miller,John J. Fung +13 more
TL;DR: The use of TPA may lower the risk of ITBS‐related graft failure in DCD‐LT and may be related to poor graft quality and previous laparotomy rather than the amount of Tpa.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association of BRAF Mutations With Survival and Recurrence in Surgically Treated Patients With Metastatic Colorectal Liver Cancer
Georgios A. Margonis,Stefan Buettner,Stefan Buettner,Nikolaos Andreatos,Yuhree Kim,Doris Wagner,Kazunari Sasaki,Andrea Beer,Christoph Schwarz,Inger Marie Løes,Inger Marie Løes,Maria Anna Smolle,Carsten Kamphues,Jin He,Timothy M. Pawlik,Klaus Kaczirek,George A. Poultsides,Per Eystein Lønning,Per Eystein Lønning,John L. Cameron,Richard A. Burkhart,Armin Gerger,Federico Aucejo,Martin E. Kreis,Christopher L. Wolfgang,Matthew J. Weiss +25 more
TL;DR: The presence of the V600E BRAF mutation was associated with worse prognosis and increased risk of recurrence and the V 600E mutation was not only a stronger prognostic factor than KRAS but also was the strongest prognostic determinant in the overall cohort.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) patients without cirrhosis
Bashar Mohamad,Vaishal Shah,Mykola Onyshchenko,Mohammed Elshamy,Federico Aucejo,Rocio Lopez,Ibrahim A. Hanouneh,Razan Alhaddad,Naim Alkhouri +8 more
TL;DR: Patients with HCC in the absence of liver cirrhosis are more likely to present at an older age with larger tumor and have higher rates of tumor recurrence and the cost-effectiveness of HCC surveillance in this group should be conducted.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of Pretransplant Bridging Locoregional Therapy for Patients with Hepatocellular Carcinoma Within Milan Criteria Undergoing Liver Transplantation: Analysis of 3601 Patients from the US Multicenter HCC Transplant Consortium
Vatche G. Agopian,Michael P. Harlander-Locke,Richard Ruiz,Goran B. Klintmalm,Srinath Senguttuvan,Sander Florman,Brandy Haydel,Maarouf Hoteit,Matthew H. Levine,David D. Lee,C. Burcin Taner,Elizabeth C. Verna,Karim J. Halazun,Karim J. Halazun,Rita M. Abdelmessih,Amit D. Tevar,Abhinav Humar,Federico Aucejo,William C. Chapman,Neeta Vachharajani,Mindie H. Nguyen,Marc L. Melcher,Trevor L. Nydam,Constance M. Mobley,R. Mark Ghobrial,Beth Amundsen,James F. Markmann,Alan Norman Langnas,Carol A. Carney,Jennifer Berumen,Alan W. Hemming,Debra L. Sudan,Johnny C. Hong,Joohyun Kim,Michael A. Zimmerman,Abbas Rana,Michael L. Kueht,Christopher M. Jones,Thomas M. Fishbein,Ronald W. Busuttil +39 more
TL;DR: Bridging LRT in HCC patients within MC does not improve post-LT survival or HCC recurrence in the majority of patients who fail to achieve cPR, and the need for increasing LRT treatments and lack of alphafetoprotein response to LRT independently predict post- LT recurrence.
