Journal ArticleDOI

Clinical characterisation of pneumonia caused by atypical pathogens combining classic and novel predictors.

TL;DR: The combination of selected patient characteristics and laboratory data identified up to half of the cases of atypical pneumonia with high specificity, which should help clinicians to optimise initial empirical therapy for CAP.
Journal ArticleDOI

Avascular necrosis of the bone in HIV-infected patients: incidence and associated factors.

TL;DR: AVN was predominantly seen in patients with advanced HIV disease and 86% had at least one risk factor previously associated with AVN, and 90% had had previous exposure to antiretroviral drugs and 70% had been given HAART before developing AVN.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluation of endothelial function and subclinical atherosclerosis in association with hepatitis C virus in HIV-infected patients: a cross-sectional study

TL;DR: HCV infection was associated with higher levels of sICam-1 and sVCAM-1, but no evidence of increased subclinical atherosclerosis was found when endothelial function was evaluated through FMD, or when assessing the cIMT.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of first-line antiretroviral therapy on the CD4/CD8 ratio and CD8 cell counts in CoRIS: a prospective multicentre cohort study.

Sergio Serrano-Villar, +321 more
- 01 Aug 2020 -
TL;DR: New evidence is provided that reinforces the positioning of INSTI-based therapies as a first choice and underlines the importance of analysing the effects of therapeutic interventions on biomarkers linked with morbidity and mortality beyond the plasma HIV RNA and the CD4 cell counts.
Journal ArticleDOI

Relationship between ankle-brachial index and carotid intima-media thickness in HIV-infected patients.

TL;DR: Both low and high ankle–brachial index are considered as indicators of systemic atherosclerosis in older HIV-negative adults, and the results obtained with carotid intima-media thickness, a well established marker of subclinic Atherosclerosis, were associated with carOTidintima- media thickness.
