Fas ligand mediates activation-induced cell death in human T lymphocytes.
Mark R. Alderson,T W Tough,T Davis-Smith,S Braddy,Ben A. Falk,K A Schooley,Raymond G. Goodwin,Craig A. Smith,Fred Ramsdell,David H. Lynch +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, a significant proportion of previously activated human T cells undergo apoptosis when triggered through the CD3/T cell receptor complex, a process termed activation-induced cell death (AICD).
Journal ArticleDOI
Fas transduces activation signals in normal human T lymphocytes.
Mark R. Alderson,R J Armitage,Eugene Maraskovsky,T W Tough,E Roux,K A Schooley,Fred Ramsdell,David H. Lynch +7 more
TL;DR: The data demonstrate that in addition to a role in the induction of apoptosis in certain transformed cell lines, the Fas protein may also play an important role inThe activation and proliferation of normal T cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of Foxp3 + CD4 + CD25 + and IL-10-Secreting CD4 + CD25 + T Cells during Cure of Colitis
Holm H. Uhlig,Janine L. Coombes,Christian Mottet,Ana Izcue,Claire Thompson,Andrea Fanger,Andrea Tannapfel,Jason D. Fontenot,Fred Ramsdell,Fiona Powrie +9 more
TL;DR: Data indicate that although CD4+CD25+ T cells expressing Foxp3 are present within both lymphoid organs and the colon, subsets of IL-10-producing CD4/CD25/ T cells are present mainly within the intestinal lamina propria suggesting compartmentalization of the regulatory T cell response at effector sites.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vstm3 is a Member of the CD28 Family and an Important Modulator of T Cell Function
Steven D. Levin,David W. Taft,Cameron S. Brandt,Christoph Bucher,Edward D. Howard,Eric M. Chadwick,Janet V. Johnston,Angela K. Hammond,Kristen Bontadelli,Ardourel Daniel F,LuAnn Hebb,Anitra Wolf,Thomas R. Bukowski,Mark W. Rixon,Joseph L. Kuijper,Craig D. Ostrander,James W. West,Janine Bilsborough,Brian A. Fox,Zeren Gao,Wenfeng Xu,Fred Ramsdell,Bruce R. Blazar,Katherine E. Lewis +23 more
TL;DR: It is shown that soluble Vstm3 attenuates T‐cell responses in vitro and in vivo and animals deficient in VSTM3 are more sensitive to autoimmune challenges indicating that this new member of the CD28 family is an important regulator of T‐ cell responses.

Cellular and Molecular Characterization of the scurfy Mouse Mutant
TL;DR: Flow cytometric analyses of lymphoid cell populations reveal that scurfy syndrome is characterized by changes in several phenotypic parameters, including an increase in Mac-1+ cells and a decrease in B220+ cells, changes that may result from the production of extremely high levels of the cytokine granulocyte-macrophage CSF by scurfi T cells.
