Journal ArticleDOI
Percutaneous Coronary Intervention of Functionally Nonsignificant Stenosis: 5-Year Follow-Up of the DEFER Study
Nico H.J. Pijls,Pepijn van Schaardenburgh,Ganesh Manoharan,Eric Boersma,Jan-Willem Bech,Marcel van 't Veer,Frits W. Bär,Jan C.A. Hoorntje,Jacques J. Koolen,William Wijns,Bernard De Bruyne +10 more
TL;DR: Five-year outcome after deferral of PCI of an intermediate coronary stenosis based on FFR >/=0.75 is excellent and the risk of cardiac death or myocardial infarction related to this stenosis is <1% per year and not decreased by stenting.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reperfusion therapy for acute myocardial infarction with fibrinolytic therapy or combination reduced fibrinolytic therapy and platelet glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibition: the GUSTO V randomised trial.
E.J. Topol,A.M. Lincoff,Robert M. Califf,Erik Magnus Ohman,Eric R. Bates,W.B. Gibler,Judith S. Hochman,Neal S. Kleiman,James T. Willerson,Liliana Grinfeld,P Alward,F. Van de Werf,Paul W. White,Zygmunt Sadowski,Ricardo Seabra-Gomes,Anthony J. Dalby,Amadeo Betriu,Eva Swahn,Robert G. Wilcox +30 more
TL;DR: Reperfusion therapy for acute myocardial infarction with fibrinolytic therapy or combination reduced fibrine therapy and platelet glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibition : the GUSTO V randomised trial.
Journal ArticleDOI
Early thrombolysis in acute myocardial infarction: limitation of infarct size and improved survival.
Maarten L. Simoons,Patrick W. Serruys,Marcel van den Brand,Jan C.J. Res,Freek W.A. Verheugt,X.Hanno Krauss,W. J. Remme,Frits W. Bär,Chris de Zwaan,Arnoud van der Laarse,Frank Vermeer,Jacobus Lubsen +11 more
TL;DR: Early thrombolysis by intracoronary streptokinase leads to a smaller infarct size estimated by enzyine release, preserves left ventricular function at the second week and leads to improved 1 year survival.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characteristic electrocardiographic pattern indicating a critical stenosis high in left anterior descending coronary artery in patients admitted because of impending myocardial infarction
TL;DR: Urgent coronary angiography and, when possible, coronary revascularization should be done in patients with unstable angina who show this ECG pattern, suggesting that this finding is not rare.
Journal ArticleDOI
Preservation of global and regional left ventricular function after early thrombolysis in acute myocardial infarction
Patrick W. Serruys,Maarten L. Simoons,H. Suryapranata,Frank Vermeer,William Wijns,Marcel van den Brand,Frits W. Bär,Chris de Zwaan,X.Hanno Krauss,W. J. Remme,Jan C.J. Res,Freek W.A. Verheugt,Ronald van Domburg,Jacobus Lubsen,Paul G. Hugenholtz +14 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that improved regional and global left ventricular function can be achieved with early reperfusion and that this is the likely explanation for the reduction of early and late mortality after thrombolysis observed in this study.
