Monitoring of Eyjafjallajökull volcanic aerosol by the new European Skynet Radiometers (ESR) network
Monica Campanelli,Victor Estellés,Timothy J Smyth,Claudio Tomasi,M.P. Martìnez-Lozano,B. Claxton,P. Muller,Gelsomina Pappalardo,Aleksander Pietruczuk,Jonathan Shanklin,Steve Colwell,C. Wrench,Angelo Lupi,Mauro Mazzola,Christian Lanconelli,Vito Vitale,Fernando Congeduti,Davide Dionisi,F. Cardillo,Marco Cacciani,Giampietro Casasanta,Takashi Y. Nakajima +21 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the passage of a volcanic plume produced by the eruption of Eyjafjallajokull volcano in April 2010 was measured by the sun-sky radiometers of the new European SkyRad (ESR) network.
Posted ContentDOI
Recommendations for the interpretation of "black carbon" measurements
Andreas Petzold,J. A. Ogren,Markus Fiebig,P. Laj,Shao-Meng Li,Urs Baltensperger,Thomas Holzer-Popp,Stefan Kinne,Gelsomina Pappalardo,Nobuo Sugimoto,Christoph Wehrli,A. Wiedensohler,Xiaoye Zhang +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented the results of a study on the effects of air pollution on the performance of the Global Monitoring Division of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) and the National Institute of Environmental Studies (NILU).
Journal ArticleDOI
Multi year sun-photometer measurements for aerosol characterization in a Central Mediterranean site
Antonella Boselli,Rosa Caggiano,Carmela Cornacchia,Fabio Madonna,Lucia Mona,Maria Macchiato,Gelsomina Pappalardo,Serena Trippetta +7 more
TL;DR: Aerosol characterization at a Mediterranean site is carried out on the base of 40-month (November 2005-March 2009) measurements of aerosol optical depth at 440nm and Angstrom coefficient (α) at 440/870 nm collected at the atmospheric observatory of the Istituto di Metodologie per l'Analisi Ambientale of the Italian National Research Council (CNR-IMAA) as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: In this article, a data assimilation (DA) algorithm based on the optimal interpolation method developed in the Polair3D chemistry transport model (CTM) of the Polyphemus air quality modelling platform is employed to assimilate hourly averaged normalised range-corrected lidar signals.
Journal ArticleDOI
