Journal ArticleDOI
Application of convex hull analysis for the evaluation of data heterogeneity between patient populations of different origin and implications of hospital bias in downstream machine-learning-based data processing: A comparison of 4 critical-care patient datasets
Konstantin Sharafutdinov,Jayesh Sudhir Bhat,Sebastian Fritsch,Kateryna Nikulina,Moein E. Samadi,R. Polzin,Hannah Mayer,Gernot Marx,Johannes Bickenbach,Andreas Schuppert +9 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors proposed a method to assess generalization capability among different hospitals based on the convex hull (CH) overlap between multivariate datasets, and they used a two-step approach.
Posted ContentDOI
Biometric covariates and outcome in COVID-19 patients: Are we looking close enough?
Sebastian Fritsch,Sebastian Fritsch,Konstantin Sharafutdinov,Gernot Marx,Andreas Schuppert,Johannes Bickenbach +5 more
TL;DR: It is found that survival in MV is affected by complex interactions of covariates differing to the reported covariates, which are hidden in generic, non-stratified studies on risk factors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Time out for vasopressors in increased microvascular permeability
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the flux of fluids from intravascular to extravascular spaces is, at least in part, driven by the intrav vascular hydrostatic pressure, and, moreover, that increasing the colloid osmotic pressure fails to compensate this effect.
Journal ArticleDOI
[Perception of the COVID-19 Pandemic among Pneumology Professionals in Germany].
Arne Peine,Pia Paffenholz,Martin Hellmich,Lukas Martin,Christoph Roderburg,Axel Heidenreich,Gernot Marx,Christian Trautwein,Tom Luedde,Sven H. Loosen,Sven H. Loosen +10 more
TL;DR: The professional and personal impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on pneumology professionals in Germany is analyzed for the first time to identify first starting points to better support health professionals during the current and future challenges.
Journal ArticleDOI
[Weaning ward-different from the ICU?]
TL;DR: The aim of this weaning "road map" is ventilator independence, decannulation and regaining of muscular strength, which needs a well-educated team of physicians, nurses, respiratory/physical therapists, logopedists and pychologists.
