Journal ArticleDOI

Development and validation of a reinforcement learning algorithm to dynamically optimize mechanical ventilation in critical care.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors developed and evaluated the reinforcement learning algorithm VentAI, which was able to suggest a dynamically optimized mechanical ventilation regime for critically-ill patients, and used a Markov decision process, including a reward system and a Q-learning approach, to find the optimized settings for positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP), fraction of inspired oxygen (FiO2) and ideal body weight-adjusted tidal volume (Vt).
Journal ArticleDOI

Plasma adrenomedullin in critically ill patients with sepsis after major surgery: A pilot study

TL;DR: Higher adrenomedullin on admission is associated with increased vasopressor need and mortality after 90 days, and may be a useful additional parameter in surgical patients with sepsis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impact of stable PGI₂ analog iloprost on early graft viability after liver transplantation: a pilot study.

TL;DR: The impact of stable PGI2 analog iloprost on early graft viability after liver transplantation after liver transplants is studied in a pilot study.
Journal ArticleDOI

Recommendations for treatment of critically ill patients with COVID-19 : Version 3 S1 guideline

TL;DR: Invasive mechanical ventilation and repeated prone positioning are key elements in treating severely hypoxemic COVID-19 patients, and remdesivir and dexamethasone have shown clinical effectiveness in severe CO VID-19 in hospitalized patients.
