Journal ArticleDOI
Antibody–Fc/FcR Interaction on Macrophages as a Mechanism for Hyperprogressive Disease in Non–small Cell Lung Cancer Subsequent to PD-1/PD-L1 Blockade
Giuseppe Lo Russo,Massimo Moro,Michele Sommariva,Valeria Cancila,Mattia Boeri,Giovanni Centonze,Simona Ferro,Monica Ganzinelli,Patrizia Gasparini,Veronica Huber,Massimo Milione,Luca Porcu,Claudia Proto,Giancarlo Pruneri,Diego Signorelli,Sabina Sangaletti,Lucia Sfondrini,Chiara Storti,Elena Tassi,Alberto Bardelli,Silvia Marsoni,Valter Torri,Claudio Tripodo,Mario P. Colombo,Andrea Anichini,Licia Rivoltini,Andrea Balsari,Gabriella Sozzi,Marina Chiara Garassino +28 more
TL;DR: These results suggest a crucial role of TAM reprogramming, upon Fc receptor engagement by ICI, eventually inducing HP and provide clues on a distinctive immunophenotype potentially able to predict HP.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modulation of peripheral blood immune cells by early use of steroids and its association with clinical outcomes in patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors
Giovanni Fucà,Giulia Galli,M. Poggi,Giuseppe Lo Russo,Claudia Proto,Martina Imbimbo,Roberto Ferrara,Nicoletta Zilembo,Monica Ganzinelli,Antonio Sica,Antonio Sica,Valter Torri,Mario P. Colombo,Claudio Vernieri,Andrea Balsari,Filippo de Braud,Marina Chiara Garassino,Diego Signorelli +17 more
TL;DR: In patients with mNSCLC treated with ICIs, early use of steroids was associated with worse clinical outcomes and remarkable modulation of peripheral blood immune cells, which could contribute to restraining the activation of antitumour immunity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Focus on genetic and epigenetic events of colorectal cancer pathogenesis: implications for molecular diagnosis
Federica Zoratto,Luigi Rossi,Monica Verrico,Anselmo Papa,Enrico Basso,Angelo Zullo,Luigi Tomao,Adriana Romiti,Giuseppe Lo Russo,Silverio Tomao +9 more
TL;DR: This review summarizes the most investigated biomolecular pathways involved in CRC pathogenesis, their role as biomarkers for early CRC diagnosis and their possible use to stratify susceptible patients into appropriate screening or surveillance programs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Emerging role of cancer stem cells in the biology and treatment of ovarian cancer: basic knowledge and therapeutic possibilities for an innovative approach
Federica Tomao,Anselmo Papa,Luigi Rossi,Martina Strudel,Patrizia Vici,Giuseppe Lo Russo,Silverio Tomao +6 more
TL;DR: In this review, the attention is focused on the molecular characteristics of epithelial ovarian cancer stem cells, in particular on possible targets to hit with targeted therapies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Italian Nivolumab Expanded Access Program in Nonsquamous Non–Small Cell Lung Cancer Patients: Results in Never-Smokers and EGFR-Mutant Patients
Marina Chiara Garassino,Alain Gelibter,Francesco Grossi,Rita Chiari,Hector Soto Parra,Stefano Cascinu,Francesco Cognetti,Daniele Turci,Livio Blasi,Carmelo Bengala,Enrico Mini,Editta Baldini,Silvia Quadrini,Giovanni Luca Ceresoli,Paola Antonelli,Enrico Vasile,Carmine Pinto,Gianpiero Fasola,Domenico Galetta,Marianna Macerelli,Diana Giannarelli,Giuseppe Lo Russo,Filippo de Marinis +22 more
TL;DR: The data on the Italian expanded access program in populations with nonsquamous NSCLC suggest that subgroups of patients could benefit differently from nivolumab according to their EGFR mutational status and smoking habits.
