Journal ArticleDOI
Colon cancer stem cells dictate tumor growth and resist cell death by production of interleukin-4.
Matilde Todaro,Mileidys Perez Alea,Anna Barbara Di Stefano,Patrizia Cammareri,Louis Vermeulen,Flora Iovino,Claudio Tripodo,Antonio Russo,Gaspare Gulotta,Jan Paul Medema,Giorgio Stassi +10 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that colon tumor growth is dictated by stem-like cells that are treatment resistant due to the autocrine production of IL-4, which strongly enhances the antitumor efficacy of standard chemotherapeutic drugs through selective sensitization of CD133(+) cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Low vitamin D serum level is related to severe fibrosis and low responsiveness to interferon-based therapy in genotype 1 chronic hepatitis C
Salvatore Petta,Calogero Cammà,Concetta Scazzone,Claudio Tripodo,Vito Di Marco,Antonino Bono,Daniela Cabibi,G. Licata,Rossana Porcasi,Giulio Marchesini,Antonio Craxì +10 more
TL;DR: Low vitamin D is linked to severe fibrosis and low SVR on interferon (IFN)‐based therapy and G1 CHC patients had low 25(OH)D serum levels, possibly because of reduced CYP27A1 expression.
Journal ArticleDOI
CD4+CD25+ regulatory T cells suppress mast cell degranulation and allergic responses through OX40-OX40L interaction.
Giorgia Gri,Silvia Piconese,Barbara Frossi,Vanessa Manfroi,Sonia Merluzzi,Claudio Tripodo,Antonella Viola,Sandra Odom,Juan Rivera,Mario P. Colombo,Carlo Pucillo +10 more
TL;DR: The demonstrated crosstalk between Treg cells and MCs defines a previously unrecognized mechanism controlling MC degranulation, which may contribute to the severity of allergic responses.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neutrophil extracellular traps mediate transfer of cytoplasmic neutrophil antigens to myeloid dendritic cells toward ANCA induction and associated autoimmunity.
Sabina Sangaletti,Claudio Tripodo,Claudia Chiodoni,Carla Guarnotta,Barbara Cappetti,Patrizia Casalini,Silvia Piconese,Mariella Parenza,Cristiana Guiducci,Caterina Vitali,Mario P. Colombo +10 more
TL;DR: It is shown that myeloid DCs uploaded with and activated by NET components induce ANCA and autoimmunity when injected into naive mice, providing the first demonstration that NET structures are highly immunogenic such to trigger adaptive immune response relevant for autoIMmunity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antibody–Fc/FcR Interaction on Macrophages as a Mechanism for Hyperprogressive Disease in Non–small Cell Lung Cancer Subsequent to PD-1/PD-L1 Blockade
Giuseppe Lo Russo,Massimo Moro,Michele Sommariva,Valeria Cancila,Mattia Boeri,Giovanni Centonze,Simona Ferro,Monica Ganzinelli,Patrizia Gasparini,Veronica Huber,Massimo Milione,Luca Porcu,Claudia Proto,Giancarlo Pruneri,Diego Signorelli,Sabina Sangaletti,Lucia Sfondrini,Chiara Storti,Elena Tassi,Alberto Bardelli,Silvia Marsoni,Valter Torri,Claudio Tripodo,Mario P. Colombo,Andrea Anichini,Licia Rivoltini,Andrea Balsari,Gabriella Sozzi,Marina Chiara Garassino +28 more
TL;DR: These results suggest a crucial role of TAM reprogramming, upon Fc receptor engagement by ICI, eventually inducing HP and provide clues on a distinctive immunophenotype potentially able to predict HP.
