Characterization of commercial samples of gum arabic

TL;DR: In this paper, six commercial gum arabic samples and authenticated samples of gum from Acacia senegal and Acaciaseyal have been characterized using a range of chemical and physicochemical techniques including determination of specific rotation, sugar composition, nitrogen and amino acid content, and molecular mass distribution.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization and properties of Acacia senegal (L.) Willd. var. senegal with enhanced properties (Acacia (sen) SUPER GUM™): Part 1—Controlled maturation of Acacia senegal var. senegal to increase viscoelasticity, produce a hydrogel form and convert a poor into a good emulsifier

TL;DR: In this paper, it is shown that it is possible to maturate the "poor" emulsifier in a process comparable to that which occurs to the exudate gum as the age of the tree increases from 1 to 15 years.
Journal ArticleDOI

A review of isolation process, structural characteristics, and bioactivities of water-soluble polysaccharides from Dendrobium plants

TL;DR: A diversity of structures has been proposed for several polysaccharides isolated from various Dendrobium varieties and bioactivities, such as immuno-modulatory,anti-tumor, anti-diabetic, and antioxidant properties, have been found.
Journal ArticleDOI

Rheological properties of sodium alginate in an aqueous system during gelation in relation to supermolecular structures and Ca2+ binding.

TL;DR: Gelation behavior of sodium alginate was investigated in an aqueous system at various CaCO3 doses using two samples of different mannuronate (M)/guluronate ratios but with comparable molecular masses as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

New studies on gum ghatti (Anogeissus latifolia) part I. Fractionation, chemical and physical characterization of the gum

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe the fractionation, chemical and physical characterization of processed gum Ghatti (Gatifolia SD), and identify the source of its surface activity.
