Towards standardizing taxonomic ranks using divergence times – a case study for reconstruction of the Agaricus taxonomic system

TL;DR: ITS data, while useful at lower taxonomic levels, are of limited value for inferring deeper phylogenetic relationships and it is suggested that the establishment of a standardized taxonomic system based on divergence times could result in a more objective, and biologically more meaningful, taxonomic ranking of fungi.
Journal ArticleDOI

A preliminary DNA barcode selection for the genus Russula (Russulales, Basidiomycota).

TL;DR: Since nLSU has the lowest minimum of inter-specific variation, and tef-1α has the highest overlap between intra- and inter-species variations among the candidate genes, they are disqualified from the selection for DNA barcode of Russula.

TL;DR: In this paper, taxonomic and phylogenetic contributions to fungal taxa are described and annotated for the first time in a taxonomic context.Erratum to: Fungal Diversity Notes 111−252
Journal ArticleDOI

Correct names of two cultivated mushrooms from the genus Pleurotus in China

TL;DR: Two collections of Pleurotus giganteus and one collection of Pl. tuber-regium from Jiangxi Province, China were identified using macro and micro morphological characters and the identification was confirmed by phylogenetic analysis using Internal Transcribed Spacer (ITS) universal primers.
