Journal ArticleDOI
ERS statement on respiratory muscle testing at rest and during exercise
Pierantonio Laveneziana,André Luis Pereira de Albuquerque,Andrea Aliverti,Tony G. Babb,Esther Barreiro,Martin Dres,Bruno-Pierre Dubé,Brigitte Fauroux,Joaquim Gea,Jordan A. Guenette,Anna L. Hudson,Hans-Joachim Kabitz,Franco Laghi,Franco Laghi,Daniel Langer,Yuan Ming Luo,J. Alberto Neder,Denis E. O'Donnell,Michael I. Polkey,Roberto A Rabinovich,Andrea Rossi,Frédéric Sériès,Thomas Similowski,Christina M. Spengler,Ioannis Vogiatzis,Ioannis Vogiatzis,Ioannis Vogiatzis,Samuel Verges +27 more
TL;DR: This ERS task force summarises the most recent scientific and methodological developments regarding respiratory mechanics and respiratory muscle assessment by addressing the validity, precision, reproducibility, prognostic value and responsiveness to interventions of various methods.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transcutaneous Pco2 Monitoring During Initiation of Noninvasive Ventilation
TL;DR: Ptcco2 measurements provide a sensitive, continuous, and noninvasive method for monitoring alveolar ventilation in patients who are receiving short-term NPPV therapy and Drift correction of Ptcco 2 measurements improves the accuracy of PtCCo2 monitoring compared to the "gold standard" Paco2 assessment.
Journal ArticleDOI
[Standardization of spirometry: 2015 update. Published by German Atemwegsliga, German Respiratory Society and German Society of Occupational and Environmental Medicine].
C.-P. Criée,Xaver Baur,Dietrich Berdel,D. Bösch,Monika Gappa,P. Haidl,K. Husemann,Rudolf A. Jörres,Hans-Joachim Kabitz,Peter Kardos,Dieter Köhler,H. Magnussen,Rolf Merget,H. Mitfessel,Dennis Nowak,Uta Ochmann,W. Schürmann,H.-J. Smith,Stephan Sorichter,T. Voshaar,Heinrich Worth +20 more
TL;DR: Recommendations are provided dealing with standardization and interpretation of spirometry for healthy non-smoking males and females aged 3-95 that include appropriate age-dependent mean values and lower limits of normal (LLN).
Journal ArticleDOI
Impairment of respiratory muscle function in pulmonary hypertension
Hans-Joachim Kabitz,Anja Schwoerer,H. Bremer,F. Sonntag,Stephan Walterspacher,David Walker,Vanessa Schaefer,Nicola Ehlken,Gerd Staehler,Michael Halank,Hans Klose,Hossein Ardeschir Ghofrani,Marius M. Hoeper,Ekkehard Gruenig,Wolfram Windisch +14 more
TL;DR: There is strong evidence that respiratory muscle strength is reduced in patients with PH compared with well-matched control subjects, and the 6-min walking distance is significantly linked to parameters assessing inspiratory muscle strength.
Journal ArticleDOI
Idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension phenotypes determined by cluster analysis from the COMPERA registry
Marius M. Hoeper,Christine Pausch,Ekkehard Grünig,Hans Klose,Gerd Staehler,Doerte Huscher,David Pittrow,Karen M. Olsson,Carmine Dario Vizza,Henning Gall,Nicola Benjamin,Oliver Distler,Christian Opitz,J. Simon R. Gibbs,Marion Delcroix,H. Ardeschir Ghofrani,Stephan Rosenkranz,Ralf Ewert,Harald Kaemmerer,Tobias J. TL;DR: A cluster analysis of 841 patients with idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension identified distinct phenotypes, which differed in clinical presentation, response to therapy, and survival.
