Ghrelin signaling regulates feeding behavior, metabolism, and memory through the vagus nerve

TL;DR: Collective results reveal that VAN GHSR signaling is required for both normal feeding and metabolic function as well as HPC-dependent memory, and that gut-restricted ghrelin-induced increases in VAN firing rate require intact VANGHSR expression.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nucleus of the solitary tract A2 neurons control feeding behaviors via projections to the paraventricular hypothalamus

TL;DR: In this paper , the role of NTS A2 neurons and their projections in the control of feeding behaviors was investigated in male TH Cre rats, and it was shown that chemogenetic stimulation of these neurons significantly suppressed dark cycle food intake, deprivation re-feed and high fat diet intake.
Journal ArticleDOI

Tim Bartness (1953-2015).

TL;DR: Tributes are paid to Tim bartness, a superbly innovative and imaginative scientist who applied a broad understanding of metabolic physiology, behavior, and drug discovery to cancer research.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hindbrain ghrelin and LEAP2, ligands for GHSR, bidirectionally control food intake.

TL;DR: In this article , the effects of hindbrain growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHSR) antagonism by its endogenous antagonist, liver expressed antimicrobial peptide 2 (LEAP2) are investigated.
