Journal ArticleDOI

Cotransplantation of ex vivo expanded mesenchymal stem cells accelerates lymphocyte recovery and may reduce the risk of graft failure in haploidentical hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation.

TL;DR: The data suggest that MSCs, possibly thanks to their potent immunosuppressive effect on alloreactive host T lymphocytes escaping the preparative regimen, reduce the risk of graft failure in haploidentical HSC transplant recipients.
Journal ArticleDOI

Isolation of functionally distinct mesenchymal stem cell subsets using antibodies against CD56, CD271, and mesenchymal stem cell antigen-1

TL;DR: The data suggest that the MSCA-1+CD56+ subset is an attractive starting population for autologous chondrocyte transplantation, and a panel of monoclonal antibodies with superior selectivity for mesenchymal stem cells with distinct phenotypic and functional properties were identified.
Journal ArticleDOI

Multipotent Stromal Cells Induce Human Regulatory T Cells Through a Novel Pathway Involving Skewing of Monocytes Toward Anti-inflammatory Macrophages

TL;DR: Using an in vitro culture system, it was shown that culture‐expanded bone marrow‐derived MSC promote the generation of CD4+CD25hiFoxP3+ T cells in human PBMC populations and that these populations are functionally suppressive.
