Journal ArticleDOI
Gut microbiota disturbance during antibiotic therapy: a multi-omic approach.
Ana Elena Pérez-Cobas,María José Gosalbes,Anette Friedrichs,Henrik Knecht,Alejandro Artacho,Kathleen Eismann,Wolfgang Otto,David Rojo,Rafael Bargiela,Martin von Bergen,Martin von Bergen,Sven C. Neulinger,Carolin Däumer,Femke-Anouska Heinsen,Amparo Latorre,Coral Barbas,Jana Seifert,Vitor A. P. Martins dos Santos,Stephan J. Ott,Manuel Ferrer,Andrés Moya +20 more
TL;DR: The results demonstrate that ABs targeting specific pathogenic infections and diseases may alter gut microbial ecology and interactions with host metabolism at a much higher level than previously assumed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differential Effects of Antibiotic Therapy on the Structure and Function of Human Gut Microbiota
Ana Elena Pérez-Cobas,Alejandro Artacho,Henrik Knecht,María Loreto Ferrús,Anette Friedrichs,Stephan J. Ott,Andrés Moya,Amparo Latorre,María José Gosalbes +8 more
TL;DR: It is found that the class of antibiotic, particularly its antimicrobial effect and mode of action, played an important role in modulating the gut microbiota composition and function and suggested that oscillatory dynamics are not only due to antibiotic-target resistance, but also to fluctuations in the surviving bacterial community.
Journal ArticleDOI
Standardized next-generation sequencing of immunoglobulin and T-cell receptor gene recombinations for MRD marker identification in acute lymphoblastic leukaemia; a EuroClonality-NGS validation study
Monika Brüggemann,Michaela Kotrova,Henrik Knecht,Jack Bartram,Myriam Boudjogrha,Vojtech Bystry,Grazia Fazio,Eva Froňková,Mathieu Giraud,Andrea Grioni,Jeremy Hancock,Dietrich Herrmann,Cristina Jimenez,Adam Krejci,John Moppett,Tomáš Reigl,Mikaël Salson,Blanca Scheijen,Martin Schwarz,Simona Songia,Michael Svaton,Jacques J.M. van Dongen,Patrick Villarese,Stephanie Wakeman,Gary Wright,Giovanni Cazzaniga,Frederic Davi,Ramón García-Sanz,David Gonzalez,Patricia J. T. A. Groenen,Michael Hummel,Elizabeth Macintyre,Kostas Stamatopoulos,Christiane Pott,Jan Trka,Nikos Darzentas,Anton W. Langerak +36 more
TL;DR: These validated and reproducible quality-controlled EuroClonality-NGS assays can be used for standardized NGS-based identification of IG/TR markers in lymphoid malignancies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Temperature-driven shifts in the epibiotic bacterial community composition of the brown macroalga Fucus vesiculosus
TL;DR: Redundancy analysis showed that despite high variability among host individuals temperature accounted for 20% of the variation in the bacterial community composition, whereas cell density did not differ between groups.
Journal ArticleDOI
Functional consequences of microbial shifts in the human gastrointestinal tract linked to antibiotic treatment and obesity.
Ester Hernández,Rafael Bargiela,María Suárez Diez,Anette Friedrichs,Ana Elena Pérez-Cobas,María José Gosalbes,Henrik Knecht,Mónica Martínez-Martínez,Jana Seifert,Martin von Bergen,Alejandro Artacho,Alicia Ruiz,Cristina Campoy,Amparo Latorre,Stephan J. Ott,Andrés Moya,Antonio Suárez,Vitor A. P. Martins dos Santos,Manuel Ferrer +18 more
TL;DR: The data and analyses provide biochemical insights into the effects of antibiotic usage on the dynamics of the GIT microbiota and pin-point presumptive links to obesity.
