Fndc5 overexpression facilitated neural differentiation of mouse embryonic stem cells
Mahboobeh Forouzanfar,Mahboobeh Forouzanfar,Farzaneh Rabiee,Kamran Ghaedi,Kamran Ghaedi,Siamak Beheshti,Somayeh Tanhaei,Alireza Shoaraye Nejati,Mohammad Jodeiri Farshbaf,Hossein Baharvand,Hossein Baharvand,Mohammad Hossein Nasr-Esfahani +11 more
TL;DR: This study showed an increase enhancement in neuronal precursor markers and mature neuron markers upon overexpression of Fndc5, concluding that Fnd c5 facilitates neural differentiation.
Journal ArticleDOI
In vivo conversion of astrocytes to myelinating cells by miR-302/367 and valproate to enhance myelin repair.
Maryam Ghasemi-Kasman,Leila Zare,Hossein Baharvand,Hossein Baharvand,Mohammad Javan,Mohammad Javan +5 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that in vivo specific targeting of astrocytes for forced expression of the miR‐302/367 cluster and VPA administration may increase the brain's potential for repairing myelin insults by the generation of oligodendroglia from astroCytes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Treatment of Human Embryonic Stem Cells with Different Combinations of Priming and Inducing Factors Toward Definitive Endoderm
Yasser Tahamtani,Mahnaz Azarnia,Ali Farrokhi,Ali Sharifi-Zarchi,Nasser Aghdami,Hossein Baharvand +5 more
TL;DR: Data have indicated that hESCs primed with Rapa, and induced by a lower concentration of activin A, could lead to DE that had the capability to further differentiate into HLCs and PP cells, but not PE cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Delay in apoptosome formation attenuates apoptosis in mouse embryonic stem cell differentiation.
Shiva Akbari-Birgani,Saman Hosseinkhani,Sepideh Mollamohamadi,Hossein Baharvand,Hossein Baharvand +4 more
TL;DR: Investigating the role of the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway and cell energy level during differentiation of mESCs into the cardiomyocytes and their apoptosis suggests that a delay in the release of cytochrome c or delay in ATP increase attenuate apoptosome formation, and caspase activation thereby discriminates apoptosis from differentiation in mEScs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ultrastructural comparison of developing mouse embryonic stem cell- and in vivo-derived cardiomyocytes.
Hossein Baharvand,Abbas Piryaei,Razieh Rohani,Adeleh Taei,Mohammad Hassan Heidari,Ahmad Hosseini +5 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that ESCs can differentiate into functional mature CMs in vitro and may provide an ideal model for the study of cardiomyocytic development and may be useful for cell therapy of various cardiac diseases.
