Ultralong Haul 1.28-Tb/s PM-16QAM WDM Transmission Employing Hybrid Amplification
Talha Rahman,Danish Rafique,Antonio Napoli,Erik De Man,Bernhard Spinnler,Marc Bohn,Chigo Okonkwo,A.M.J. Koonen,Huug de Waardt +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a 1 Tb/s superchannel configuration achieved by closer than standard 50 GHz placement of Nyquist filtered wavelength-division multiplexed (WDM) channels is envisioned, and an increase in symbol rate of each subcarrier in a superchannel is desired to reduce the number of components per Tb /s and, consequently, overall cost.
Journal ArticleDOI
Demonstration of a Photonic Integrated Mode Coupler With MDM and WDM Transmission
Haoshuo Chen,Vincent A. J. M. Sleiffer,Bradley Snyder,Maxim Kuschnerov,Roy van Uden,Yongmin Jung,Chigo Okonkwo,Oded Raz,Peter O'Brien,Huug de Waardt,Ton Koonen +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a photonic integrated mode coupler based on silicon-on-insulator (SoI) technology is proposed for coupling between an SoI chip and an FMF, guiding LP01 and LP11 modes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-Haul Transmission of PM-16QAM-, PM-32QAM-, and PM-64QAM-Based Terabit Superchannels Over a Field Deployed Legacy Fiber
Talha Rahman,Danish Rafique,Bernhard Spinnler,Stefano Calabro,Erik De Man,Uwe Feiste,Antonio Napoli,Marc Bohn,Ginni Khanna,Norbert Hanik,Erwan Pincemin,Claude Le Bouette,Jeremie Jauffrit,Sylvain Bordais,Celine Andre,Christian Dourthe,Bruno Raguenes,Chigo Okonkwo,A.M.J. Koonen,Huug de Waardt +19 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors conducted several high capacity experiments with tier-1 operator Orange using their field deployed standard single mode fiber (SSMF, G.652), having a total length of 762 km, connecting the cities Lyon and Marseille in France.
Journal ArticleDOI
Employing Prism-Based Three-Spot Mode Couplers for High Capacity MDM/WDM Transmission
Haoshuo Chen,Vincent A. J. M. Sleiffer,Frans Huijskens,Roy van Uden,Chigo Okonkwo,Paolo Leoni,Maxim Kuschnerov,Lars Gruner-Nielsen,Yi Sun,Huug de Waardt,Ton Koonen +10 more
TL;DR: Based on a three-surface prism, a free space design of the three-spot mode coupler, supporting LP01 and LP11 modes, is introduced in this paper, where the authors demonstrate 7.68 Tbit/s transmission of three mode division multiplexing (MDM) × 8 wavelength division multiple Xing (WDM), × 320-Gb/s dual-polarization (DP)-32QAM over a 120 km differential-group-delay (DGD)-compensated few-mode fiber (FMF) by employing the proposed spot coupl
Journal ArticleDOI
Advanced Differential Modulation Formats for Optical Access Networks
TL;DR: Results indicate that incoherent modulation can fulfill important requirements of networks operators, namely increased bit rate and increased splitting ratio, and provide a cost-effective solution for Next-Generation Optical Access Networks.
