20 × 960-Gb/s Space-division-multiplexed 32QAM transmission over 60 km few-mode fiber

TL;DR: This work shows transmission of 20 wavelength-division-multiplexed (WDM) × 960-Gb/s space- division- multiplexed 32QAM modulated channels (spectral efficiency of 15 bits/s/Hz) with inline few-mode EDFA (FM-EDFA) with Soft-decision FEC to achieve error-free transmission.
Journal ArticleDOI

Employing Prism-Based Three-Spot Mode Couplers for High Capacity MDM/WDM Transmission

TL;DR: Based on a three-surface prism, a free space design of the three-spot mode coupler, supporting LP01 and LP11 modes, is introduced in this paper, where the authors demonstrate 7.68 Tbit/s transmission of three mode division multiplexing (MDM) × 8 wavelength division multiple Xing (WDM), × 320-Gb/s dual-polarization (DP)-32QAM over a 120 km differential-group-delay (DGD)-compensated few-mode fiber (FMF) by employing the proposed spot coupl
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Self- coherent optical OFDM: An interesting alternative to direct or coherent detection

TL;DR: In this article, an overview of self coherent optical (SCO-) OFDM is given, where the optical carrier is extracted from the signal with the use of filters with very narrow bandwidth and used as an LO using heterodyne or homodyne detection.
