Journal ArticleDOI
Left atrial appendage occlusion for stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation: multicentre experience with the AMPLATZER Cardiac Plug.
Apostolos Tzikas,Samera Shakir,Sameer Gafoor,Heyder Omran,Sergio Berti,Gennaro Santoro,Joelle Kefer,Ulf Landmesser,Jens Erik Nielsen-Kudsk,Ignacio Cruz-Gonzalez,Horst Sievert,Tobias Tichelbäcker,Prapa Kanagaratnam,Fabian Nietlispach,Adel Aminian,Friederike Kasch,Xavier Freixa,Paolo Danna,Marco Rezzaghi,Paul Vermeersch,Friederike Stock,Miroslava Stolcova,Marco A. Costa,Reda Ibrahim,Wolfgang Schillinger,Bernhard Meier,Jai-Wun Park +26 more
TL;DR: In this multicentre study, LAAO with the ACP showed high procedural success and a favourable outcome for the prevention of AF-related thromboembolism and modification in antithrombotic therapy after LAAo may result in reduction of bleeding events.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical outcomes of state-of-the-art percutaneous coronary revascularization in patients with de novo three vessel disease: 1-year results of the SYNTAX II study.
Javier Escaned,Carlos Collet,Nicola Ryan,Giovanni Luigi De Maria,Simon J Walsh,Manel Sabaté,Justin E. Davies,Maciej Lesiak,Raúl Moreno,Ignacio Cruz-Gonzalez,S.P Hoole,Nick E.J. West,Jan J. Piek,Azfar Zaman,Farzin Fath-Ordoubadi,Rodney H. Stables,Clare Appleby,Nicolas M. Van Mieghem,Robert J. van Geuns,Neal G. Uren,Javier Zueco,Paweł Buszman,Andrés Iñiguez,Javier Goicolea,David Hildick-Smith,Andrzej Ochała,Dariusz Dudek,Colm G. Hanratty,Rafael Cavalcante,Arie Pieter Kappetein,David P. Taggart,Gerrit-Anne van Es,Marie-Angèle Morel,Ton de Vries,Yoshinobu Onuma,Vasim Farooq,Patrick W. Serruys,Adrian P. Banning +37 more
TL;DR: At one year, clinical outcomes with the SYNTAX-II strategy were associated with improved clinical results compared to the PCI performed in comparable patients from the original SYN TAX-I trial, and a randomized clinical trial with contemporary CABG is warranted.
Journal ArticleDOI
Incidence and Clinical Impact of Device-Associated Thrombus and Peri-Device Leak Following Left Atrial Appendage Closure With the Amplatzer Cardiac Plug.
Jacqueline Saw,Apostolos Tzikas,Samera Shakir,Sameer Gafoor,Heyder Omran,Jens Erik Nielsen-Kudsk,Joelle Kefer,Adel Aminian,Sergio Berti,Gennaro Santoro,Fabian Nietlispach,Aris Moschovitis,Ignacio Cruz-Gonzalez,Francis Stammen,Tobias Tichelbäcker,Xavier Freixa,Reda Ibrahim,Wolfgang Schillinger,Bernhard Meier,Horst Sievert,Steffen Gloekler +20 more
TL;DR: Following successful left atrial appendage closure with the Amplatzer Cardiac Plug, the presence of peri-device leak was relatively low, and device-associated thrombus was infrequent, and neither was associated with increased risk for thromboembolism.
Journal ArticleDOI
Left atrial appendage occlusion with the AMPLATZER Amulet device: periprocedural and early clinical/echocardiographic data from a global prospective observational study.
Ulf Landmesser,Boris Schmidt,Jens Erik Nielsen-Kudsk,Simon Cheung Chi Lam,Jai-Wun Park,Giuseppe Tarantini,Ignacio Cruz-Gonzalez,Volker Geist,Paolo Della Bella,Antonio Colombo,Tobias Zeus,Heyder Omran,Christopher Piorkowski,Juha Lund,Claudio Tondo,David Hildick-Smith +15 more
TL;DR: This large real-world prospective registry of catheter-based LAAO using the AMPLATZER Amulet device reports a high implant success rate and a low periprocedural complication rate in a population with a high risk of stroke and bleeding.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-Term Outcomes in Patients With New Permanent Pacemaker Implantation Following Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement
Chekrallah Chamandi,Marco Barbanti,Antonio J. Muñoz-García,Azeem Latib,Luis Nombela-Franco,Enrique Gutiérrez-Ibanez,Gabriela Veiga-Fernandez,Asim N. Cheema,Ignacio Cruz-Gonzalez,Vicenç Serra,Corrado Tamburino,Antonio Mangieri,Antonio Colombo,Pilar Jiménez-Quevedo,Jaime Elízaga,Gerard Laughlin,Dae-Hyun Lee,Bruno García del Blanco,Tania Rodriguez-Gabella,Josep Ramon Marsal,Mélanie Côté,François Philippon,Josep Rodés-Cabau +22 more
TL;DR: The need for PPI post-TAVR was frequent and associated with an increased risk of heart failure rehospitalization and lack of LVEF improvement, but not mortality, after a median follow-up of 4 years.
