Journal ArticleDOI

Trace metal accumulation in different grain size fractions of the sediments from a semi-enclosed bay heavily contaminated by urban and industrial wastewaters

TL;DR: Cluster analysis was applied to identify granulometric similarities between sediment samples from a heavily contaminated semi-enclosed bay (the Kastela Bay in the Middle Adriatic).
Journal ArticleDOI

As, Cd, Hg and Pb in four edible shellfish species from breeding and harvesting areas along the eastern Adriatic Coast, Croatia.

TL;DR: There is no human health risk of consumption of shellfish from Croatian waters because the concentrations of As, Cd, Hg and Pb were below the maximum prescribed by the laws of the EU and Croatia.
Journal ArticleDOI

Biomonitoring of mercury in polluted coastal area using transplanted mussels

TL;DR: Concentrations of THg in mussel tissues, which were decreasing from the source of contamination in an anticlockwise direction towards the exit of the bay, were significantly positively correlated to THg content in sediment and suspended particles.
Journal ArticleDOI

Domoic acid--a new toxin in the Croatian Adriatic shellfish toxin profile.

TL;DR: This investigation indicates the first presence of domoic acid in Croatian shellfish, but in concentrations under the regulatory limit (20 μg g-1), therefore shellfish consumption was not found to endanger human health.
