Molecular components and functions of the endocannabinoid system in mouse prefrontal cortex.

TL;DR: The data show that the endocannabinoid -retrograde signaling plays a prominent role in long-term synaptic plasticity at the excitatory synapses of the PFC.
Journal ArticleDOI

Targeting the endocannabinoid system: future therapeutic strategies

TL;DR: This review of the latest studies regarding the role of the ECS and the drugs that target it highlights the creation of a cannabinoid-receptor interaction matrix (CRIM) and the use of metabolomics toward the development of improved and more specific drugs for each relevant disease.

Targeting the endocannabinoid system: future therapeutic strategies

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors highlight the latest studies regarding the role of the endocannabinoid system and the drugs that target it, with a particular focus on the basis for the discovery of new cannabinoid-based drugs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cannabinoid CB1 Receptors Are Localized in Striated Muscle Mitochondria and Regulate Mitochondrial Respiration.

TL;DR: In conclusion, CB1 receptors in skeletal and myocardial muscles are predominantly localized in mitochondria, and the activation of mtCB1 receptors may participate in the mitochondrial regulation of the oxidative activity probably through the relevant enzymes implicated in the pyruvate metabolism, a main substrate for TCA activity.
