A cannabinoid link between mitochondria and memory
Etienne Hebert-Chatelain,Etienne Hebert-Chatelain,Etienne Hebert-Chatelain,Tifany Desprez,Tifany Desprez,Roman Serrat,Roman Serrat,Luigi Bellocchio,Luigi Bellocchio,Luigi Bellocchio,Edgar Soria-Gomez,Edgar Soria-Gomez,Arnau Busquets-Garcia,Arnau Busquets-Garcia,Antonio C Pagano Zottola,Antonio C Pagano Zottola,Anna Delamarre,Anna Delamarre,Astrid Cannich,Astrid Cannich,Peggy Vincent,Peggy Vincent,Marjorie Varilh,Marjorie Varilh,Laurie M. Robin,Laurie M. Robin,Geoffrey Terral,Geoffrey Terral,M. Dolores García-Fernández,Michelangelo Colavita,Michelangelo Colavita,Michelangelo Colavita,Wilfrid Mazier,Wilfrid Mazier,Filippo Drago,Nagore Puente,Leire Reguero,Izaskun Elezgarai,Jean-William Dupuy,Daniela Cota,Daniela Cota,Maria-Luz Lopez-Rodriguez,Gabriel Barreda-Gómez,Federico Massa,Federico Massa,Pedro Grandes,Pedro Grandes,Giovanni Benard,Giovanni Benard,Giovanni Marsicano,Giovanni Marsicano +50 more
TL;DR: It is shown that acute cannabinoid-induced memory impairment in mice requires activation of hippocampal mtCB1 receptors, and this data reveal that bioenergetic processes are primary acute regulators of cognitive functions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Profiling and imaging of lipids on brain and liver tissue by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ ionization mass spectrometry using 2-mercaptobenzothiazole as a matrix.
Egoitz Astigarraga,Gabriel Barreda-Gómez,Laura Lombardero,Olatz Fresnedo,Fernando Castaño,María Teresa Giralt,Begoña Ochoa,Rafael Rodríguez-Puertas,José A. Fernández +8 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the performance of MBT is superior to that of the matrixes commonly employed for lipids, due to its low vapor pressure, its low acidity, and the formation of small crystals, although because of the strong background at low m/z, it precludes detection of species below approximately 500 Da.
Journal ArticleDOI
Distribution of lipids in human brain
Antonio Veloso,Roberto Fernández,Egoitz Astigarraga,Gabriel Barreda-Gómez,Iván Manuel,M. Teresa Giralt,Isidro Ferrer,Begoña Ochoa,Rafael Rodríguez-Puertas,José A. Fernández +9 more
TL;DR: The present study shows the lipid distribution obtained by MALDI-TOF IMS in human frontal cortex, hippocampus, and striatal area, together with functional autoradiography of cannabinoid and LPA receptors in postmortem human brain samples.
Journal ArticleDOI
Anatomical Distribution of Lipids in Human Brain Cortex by Imaging Mass Spectrometry
Antonio Veloso,Egoitz Astigarraga,Gabriel Barreda-Gómez,Iván Manuel,Isidro Ferrer,María Teresa Giralt,Begoña Ochoa,Olatz Fresnedo,Rafael Rodríguez-Puertas,José A. Fernández +9 more
TL;DR: Comparison between the spectra from lipid extracts devoid of proteins and those recorded directly from the tissue unambiguously show that the differences in lipid composition between gray and white matter observed in the mass images are not an artifact due to microenvironmental influences of each anatomical area on the signal intensity, but real variations in the lipid composition.
Journal ArticleDOI
Causal Link Between n-3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acid Deficiency and Motivation Deficits
Fabien Ducrocq,Roman Walle,Andrea Contini,Asma Oummadi,Baptiste Caraballo,Suzanne van der Veldt,Marie-Lou Boyer,Frank Aby,Tarson Tolentino-Cortez,Jean-Christophe Helbling,Lucy Martine,Stéphane Grégoire,Stéphanie Cabaret,Sylvie Vancassel,Sophie Layé,Jing X. Kang,Xavier Fioramonti,Olivier Berdeaux,Gabriel Barreda-Gómez,Elodie Masson,Guillaume Ferreira,David W.L. Ma,Clémentine Bosch-Bouju,Véronique De Smedt-Peyrusse,Pierre Trifilieff +24 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that transgenically preventing n-3 PUFA deficiency selectively in D2-expressing neurons normalizes MSN collateral inhibition and enhances motivation, and suggests that lower n- 3 PUFA biostatus in psychopathologies could participate in the etiology of reward-related symptoms.
