Journal ArticleDOI
Host Plant Resistance Genes for Fusarium Head Blight: Sources, Mechanisms, and Utility in Conventional Breeding Systems
TL;DR: An overview of progress in developing host plant resistance for FHB, primarily in the USA, is provided by review of the sources of resistance in wheat and barley, and their utilization in breeding programs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Population- and genome-specific patterns of linkage disequilibrium and SNP variation in spring and winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)
Shiaoman Chao,Jorge Dubcovsky,Jan Dvorak,Ming-Cheng Luo,Stephen Baenziger,Rustam Matnyazov,Dale R. Clark,Luther E. Talbert,James A. Anderson,Susanne Dreisigacker,Karl D. Glover,Jianli Chen,Kim Garland Campbell,Phil L. Bruckner,Jackie C. Rudd,Scott D. Haley,Brett F. Carver,Sid Perry,Mark E. Sorrells,Eduard Akhunov +19 more
TL;DR: This study demonstrated that the estimates of population structure between spring and winter wheat lines can identify genomic regions harboring candidate genes involved in the regulation of growth habit, and suggests that breeding and selection had a different impact on each wheat genome both within and among populations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of Yr54 and other genes associated with adult plant resistance to yellow rust and leaf rust in common wheat Quaiu 3
Bhoja R. Basnet,Bhoja R. Basnet,Ravi P. Singh,Amir M. H. Ibrahim,S. A. Herrera-Foessel,Julio Huerta-Espino,Caixia Lan,Jackie C. Rudd +7 more
TL;DR: Quantitative trait loci associated with YR and LR resistance in the RILs were identified using Diversity Arrays Technology and simple sequence repeat markers and Yr54 is a newly characterized APR gene which can be combined with other genes by using closely linked molecular markers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Yield Determination and Water-Use Efficiency of Wheat under Water-Limited Conditions in the U.S. Southern High Plains
TL;DR: The results of this study indicated that stem dry weight at anthesis may be an important trait for high yield in the SHp environment.
Journal ArticleDOI
PCR‐based markers for detection of different sources of 1AL.1RS and 1BL.1RS wheat–rye translocations in wheat background
TL;DR: The utility of eight rye-specific molecular markers in detecting 1RS chromatins with different origins in diverse wheat genetic backgrounds are evaluated and two such markers were identified that were able to differentiate multiple sources of wheat–rye translocations involving 1RS.
