Journal ArticleDOI

Androgen-independent prostate cancer cells circumvent EGFR inhibition by overexpression of alternative HER receptors and ligands

TL;DR: The results confirm that the overexpression and autocrine activation of HER3 play a key role in mediating the resistance to EGFR inhibitors in androgen-independent PCa cells.
Journal ArticleDOI

Stem cell property epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition is a core transcriptional network for predicting cetuximab (Erbitux™) efficacy in KRAS wild-type tumor cells.

TL;DR: Quantitative real‐time PCR, high‐content immunostaining, and flow‐cytometry analyses confirmed that CTX efficacy depends on its ability to promote stronger cell–cell contacts by up‐regulating the expression of the epithelial markers E‐cadherin and occludin.
Journal ArticleDOI

Inhibition of tumor-associated fatty acid synthase activity enhances vinorelbine (Navelbine)-induced cytotoxicity and apoptotic cell death in human breast cancer cells.

TL;DR: This is the first study demonstrating that breast cancer-associated FAS is playing an active role in human breast cancer chemosensitivity and suggests that pharmacological inhibition of FAS activity is a novel molecular approach to enhance the cytotoxic effects of existing chemotherapeutic agents inhuman breast cancer.
