The SAURON project – XXI. The spatially resolved UV–line strength relations of early-type galaxies
Hyunjin Jeong,Sukyoung K. Yi,Martin Bureau,Roger L. Davies,Roland Bacon,Michele Cappellari,P. Tim de Zeeuw,Eric Emsellem,Jesús Falcón-Barroso,Jesús Falcón-Barroso,Davor Krajnović,Harald Kuntschner,Richard M. McDermid,Reynier Peletier,Marc Sarzi,Remco C. E. van den Bosch,Glenn van de Ven +16 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the spatially-resolved relationship between UV colours and stellar population properties of 34 early-type galaxies from the SAURON survey sample, and found that galaxies with old stellar populations show tight correlations between the FUV colours (FUV V and FUV NUV) and the Mgb index, Hβ index and metallicity [Z/H].
Journal ArticleDOI
The Fornax 3D project: Non-linear colour-metallicity relation of globular clusters
K. Fahrion,Mariya Lyubenova,M. Hilker,G. van de Ven,Jesús Falcón-Barroso,Jesús Falcón-Barroso,Ryan Leaman,Ignacio Martín-Navarro,A. Bittner,Lodovico Coccato,Enrico Maria Corsini,Enrico Maria Corsini,Dimitri A. Gadotti,Enrichetta Iodice,Enrichetta Iodice,Richard M. McDermid,F. Pinna,Marc Sarzi,Marc Sarzi,Sébastien Viaene,P. T. de Zeeuw,P. T. de Zeeuw,Ling Zhu +22 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a non-linear color-metallicity relation (CZR) was derived from a sample of 187 GCs with high spectral signal-to-noise ratio in 23 galaxies of the Fornax 3D project.
Journal ArticleDOI
Angular Momentum across the Hubble sequence from the CALIFA survey
TL;DR: In this article, the stellar angular momentum of galaxies across the Hubble sequence from the CALIFA survey was investigated, and two families of spiral galaxies with particularly peculiar properties were found: (a) spiral galaxies having much higher λRe values than any elliptical and lenticular galaxies; (b) low-mass spiral galaxies had observed λR values much lower than expected for their apparent flattening.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Fornax Deep Survey with VST. VIII. Connecting the accretion history with the cluster density
Marilena Spavone,Enrichetta Iodice,Enrichetta Iodice,G. van de Ven,Jesús Falcón-Barroso,Jesús Falcón-Barroso,M. A. Raj,M. Hilker,R. P. Peletier,Massimo Capaccioli,Steffen Mieske,Aku Venhola,Nicola R. Napolitano,Michele Cantiello,Maurizio Paolillo,Maurizio Paolillo,Pietro Schipani +16 more
TL;DR: In this article, the surface brightness profiles of the 19 bright ETGs inside the virial radius of the Fornax cluster were analyzed using deep multi-band (g, r, i) data.
Journal ArticleDOI
The inner mass distribution of late-type spiral galaxies from SAURON stellar kinematic maps
Veselina Kalinova,Veselina Kalinova,Glenn van de Ven,Mariya Lyubenova,Jesús Falcón-Barroso,Jesús Falcón-Barroso,D. Colombo,D. Colombo,Erik Rosolowsky +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors infer the central mass distributions within 0.4-1.2 disc scalelengths of 18 late-type spiral galaxies using two different dynamical modelling approaches -the asymmetric drift correction (ADC) and axisymmetric Jeans anisotropic multi-Gaussian expansion (JAM) model.
