Stellar Kinematics and Structural Properties of Virgo Cluster Dwarf Early-type Galaxies from the SMAKCED Project. I. Kinematically Decoupled Cores and Implications for Infallen Groups in Clusters
E. Toloba,E. Toloba,E. Toloba,Puragra Guhathakurta,G. van de Ven,Samuel Boissier,Alessandro Boselli,M. den Brok,Jesús Falcón-Barroso,Jesús Falcón-Barroso,Gerhard Hensler,J. Janz,J. Janz,Eija Laurikainen,Eija Laurikainen,Thorsten Lisker,Sanjaya Paudel,Reynier Peletier,Agnieszka Ryś,Agnieszka Ryś,Heikki Salo +20 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented evidence for kinematically decoupled cores (KDCs) in two dwarf early-type (dE) galaxies in the Virgo cluster, VCC 1183 and VCC 1453.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stellar population synthesis models between 2.5 and 5 μm based on the empirical IRTF stellar library
B. Röck,B. Röck,A. Vazdekis,A. Vazdekis,Reynier Peletier,Johan H. Knapen,Johan H. Knapen,Jesús Falcón-Barroso,Jesús Falcón-Barroso +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented the first single-burst stellar population models in the infrared wavelength range between 2.5 and 5 mu m which are exclusively based on empirical stellar spectra.
Journal ArticleDOI
A bar signature and central disc in the gaseous and stellar velocity fields of NGC 5448
Kambiz Fathi,Kambiz Fathi,Glenn van de Ven,Reynier Peletier,Reynier Peletier,Eric Emsellem,Jesús Falcón-Barroso,Michele Cappellari,Tim de Zeeuw +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the SAURON kinematic maps of the inner kpc of the early-type (Sa) barred spiral galaxy NGC 5448 were analyzed using a harmonic decomposition formalism.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pinna,Alessandro Pizzella,Alessandro Pizzella,Marilena Spavone,Sébastien Viaene +24 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a high-resolution map of the line-of-sight kinematics, line strengths of the stars, ionised gas reaching 2.3 R e for 21 early-type galaxies, and 1.2 R E for 10 late-type ones.
Journal ArticleDOI
Formation and evolution of dwarf early-type galaxies in the Virgo cluster. II. Kinematic scaling relations
Elisa Toloba,Elisa Toloba,Elisa Toloba,Alessandro Boselli,Alessandro Boselli,Reynier Peletier,Jesús Falcón-Barroso,G. van de Ven,Javier Gorgas +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a sample of 18 Virgo dwarf early-type galaxies (dEs) were placed on the (V - K)_e-velocity dispersion, Faber-Jackson, and fundamental plane (FP) scaling relations for massive early type galaxies (Es) to compare the location of both rotationally and pressure supported dEs with those of early and late type galaxies.
