Journal ArticleDOI
Thermodynamics versus Kinetics in Nanosynthesis
TL;DR: This Review advocates the distinction between thermodynamically and kinetically controlled scenarios, that is, whether a product forms because it is the most stable state or because the pathway leading to it has the lowest energy barrier.
Journal ArticleDOI
Aggregation-Induced Emission in the Crystals of 9,10-Distyrylanthracene Derivatives: The Essential Role of Restricted Intramolecular Torsion
TL;DR: In this article, the crystal structures and photophysical properties of four 9,10-distyrylanthracene (DSA) derivatives have been studied and it is shown that the DSA moiety is the key factor of aggregation-induced emission property because of the restricted intramolecular torsion between the 9, 10-anthrylene core and the vinylene moiety.
Journal ArticleDOI
An Unconventional Role of Ligand in Continuously Tuning of Metal–Metal Interfacial Strain
TL;DR: It is shown that embedding of a surface ligand can dramatically affect the metal-metal interfacial energy, making it possible to create nanostructures in defiance of traditional wisdom.
Journal ArticleDOI
Investigating the Multiple Roles of Polyvinylpyrrolidone for a General Methodology of Oxide Encapsulation
Hang Sun,Jiating He,Jiangyan Wang,Shuang-Yuan Zhang,Cuicui Liu,Thirumany Sritharan,Subodh Mhaisalkar,Ming-Yong Han,Dan Wang,Hongyu Chen +9 more
TL;DR: The understanding obtained in this systematic study will aid rational design and synthesis of other core-shell nanostructures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Novel Fluorescent pH Sensors and a Biological Probe Based on Anthracene Derivatives with Aggregation-Induced Emission Characteristics
Hongguang Lu,Bin Xu,Yujie Dong,Feipeng Chen,Yaowen Li,Zaifang Li,Jiating He,Hui Li,Wenjing Tian +8 more
TL;DR: Three functionalized 9,10-distyrylanthracene derivatives were synthesized and their fluorescence properties were investigated and it was demonstrated that the new AIE molecules are suitable for pH and biomacromolecule sensing.
