Journal ArticleDOI
Oxidation of diclofenac with ozone in aqueous solution.
Myint Myint Sein,Marco Zedda,Jochen Tuerk,Torsten C. Schmidt,Alfred Golloch,Clemens von Sonntag +5 more
TL;DR: Ozonation of diclofenac in aqueous solution in the presence and absence of an *OH scavenger, tertiary butanol (t-BuOH), was studied, and the most important reaction intermediates and products were identified.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect-based trigger values for in vitro and in vivo bioassays performed on surface water extracts supporting the environmental quality standards (EQS) of the European Water Framework Directive.
Beate I. Escher,Selim Aїt-Aїssa,Peter A. Behnisch,Werner Brack,Werner Brack,François Brion,Abraham Brouwer,Sebastian Buchinger,Sarah E. Crawford,David Du Pasquier,Timo Hamers,Karina Hettwer,Klára Hilscherová,Henner Hollert,Robert Kase,Cornelia Kienle,Andrew J. Tindall,Jochen Tuerk,Ron van der Oost,Etiënne L.M. Vermeirssen,Peta A. Neale,Peta A. Neale +21 more
TL;DR: A method that reads across from existing EQS and includes additional mixture considerations with the goal that the derived effect-based trigger values (EBT) indicate acceptable risk for complex mixtures as they occur in surface water.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dependence of transformation product formation on pH during photolytic and photocatalytic degradation of ciprofloxacin.
TL;DR: A comparison with those at pH 3 clearly indicated that under acidic conditions ciprofloxacin cannot be easily excited by UV irradiation, and it was shown that the removal rates strongly depended on pH with highest removal rates at pH 9.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ozonation products of triclosan in advanced wastewater treatment.
TL;DR: Cytotoxicity and genotoxicity of pure triclosan and 2,4-dichlorophenol have been investigated and the results showed reduced genotoxic effects after ozonation, though the respective chlorophenol is harmful to aquatic organisms.
Journal ArticleDOI
Determination of selected sulfonamide antibiotics and trimethoprim in manure by electrospray and atmospheric pressure chemical ionization tandem mass spectrometry.
TL;DR: A method for the determination of sulfonamides and trimethoprim in the complex matrix liquid manure has been developed using reversed-phase liquid chromatography and atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) tandem mass spectrometry and APCI proved to be more robust and less sensitive to matrix effects.
