Journal ArticleDOI
Evolution of the surface plasmon resonance of Au:TiO2 nanocomposite thin films with annealing temperature
Joel Nuno Pinto Borges,Joel Nuno Pinto Borges,Maja Buljan,Jordi Sancho-Parramon,Ivančica Bogdanović-Radović,Zdravko Siketić,Torsten Scherer,Christian Kübel,Sigrid Bernstorff,Albano Cavaleiro,Filipe Vaz,Filipe Vaz,Anabela G. Rolo +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the structural and morphological changes occurring in a particular type of nanocomposite thin-film system, composed of Au nanoparticles (NPs) dispersed in a host TiO2 dielectric matrix, were investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development of label-free plasmonic Au-TiO2 thin film immunosensor devices
Ana I. Barbosa,Joel Nuno Pinto Borges,Diana Isabela Faria Meira,Diogo Emanuel Carvalho Costa,Marcos Rodrigues,Rita Rebelo,Vitor M. Correlo,Filipe Vaz,Rui L. Reis +8 more
TL;DR: Experimental results demonstrated the successful functionalization of the films' surface with antibodies, with the immobilization occurring preferentially in the exposed nanoparticles and negligibly on the TiO2 matrix, which demonstrates the suitability for the development of cost-effective, label-free LSPR based immunosensor devices.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dry Electrodes for Surface Electromyography Based on Architectured Titanium Thin Films.
Marcos Rodrigues,Patrique Fiedler,Nora Küchler,R. P. Domingues,C. Lopes,Joel Nuno Pinto Borges,Jens Haueisen,Filipe Vaz +7 more
TL;DR: A new type of dry electrodes based on architectured titanium (Ti) thin films based on zigzags were proposed, which showed a clear increase of the signal to noise ratios when the thin films’ microstructure evolved from normal growth towards zigzag microstructures, meaning that further tailoring of the thin film microst structure is a possible route to achieve optimized performances.
Journal ArticleDOI
Thin films composed of gold nanoparticles dispersed in a dielectric matrix: The influence of the host matrix on the optical and mechanical responses
Joel Nuno Pinto Borges,Marcos Rodrigues,Tomas Kubart,S. Kumar,Klaus Leifer,M. Evaristo,Albano Cavaleiro,M. Apreutesei,Rui M. S. Pereira,Mikhail Vasilevskiy,Tomas Polcar,Tomas Polcar,Filipe Vaz +12 more
TL;DR: Gold nanoparticles were dispersed in two different dielectric matrices, TiO2 and Al2O3, using magnetron sputtering and a post-deposition annealing treatment as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
