Journal ArticleDOI

Snapshots of the Catalytic Cycle of the Industrial Enzyme α-Amino-ε-Caprolactam Racemase (ACLR) Observed Using X-ray Crystallography

TL;DR: High-resolution structures of wild-type and variant ACLRs from Rhizobium freirei are reported, substantiate suggestions of a two-base mechanism, in which the PLP-binding K267 and D210 serve as proton donors in the racemization.
Journal ArticleDOI

The efficiency of insulin production and its content in insulin-expressing model β-cells correlate with their Zn2+ levels

TL;DR: It was showed that the disruption of zinc homeostasis in the model β-cells correlated with their impaired insulin and ZnT8 production, indicating a need for in-depth fundamental research about the role of zinc in insulin production and storage.
Journal ArticleDOI

Analysis of an industrial production suspension of Bacillus lentus subtilisin crystals by powder diffraction: a powerful quality-control tool.

TL;DR: It is proposed that XRPD provides an excellent quality-control tool for such suspensions and there are at least three polymorphs present in the production suspension, albeit with the 1ndq-like microcrystals predominating.
