Measurement and correction of variations in interstellar dispersion in high-precision pulsar timing
Michael Keith,William A. Coles,Ryan Shannon,George Hobbs,Richard N. Manchester,Matthew Bailes,N. D. R. Bhat,N. D. R. Bhat,Sarah Burke-Spolaor,D. J. Champion,A. Chaudhary,Aidan Hotan,Jonathan Khoo,Jonathon Kocz,Jonathon Kocz,Stefan Oslowski,Stefan Oslowski,Vikram Ravi,Vikram Ravi,John Reynolds,John Sarkissian,W. van Straten,D. R. B. Yardley,D. R. B. Yardley +23 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors demonstrate that simple algorithms to correct for interstellar dispersion can attenuate signals of interest to pulsar timing arrays, such as that induced by a gravitational wave background.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development of a Pulsar-Based Time-Scale
George Hobbs,William A. Coles,Richard N. Manchester,Michael Keith,Ryan Shannon,D. Chen,Matthew Bailes,N. D. R. Bhat,Sarah Burke-Spolaor,D. J. Champion,A. B. Yardley,D. R. B. Yardley,X. P. You +26 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the Parkes Pulsar Timing Array (PPTA) project has developed the first pulsar-based time-scale that has a precision comparable to the uncertainties in International Atomic Time-scales (TAI).

TL;DR: Polarization profiles for 20 millisecond pulsars were presented in this paper for the Parkes Pulsar Timing Array project, and the results support the idea that radio emission from millisecond pulses originates high in the pulsar magnetosphere, probably close to the emission regions for high-energy X-ray and gamma-ray emission.
Journal ArticleDOI
Polarization observations of 20 millisecond pulsars
W. M. Yan,Richard N. Manchester,Willem van Straten,John Reynolds,George Hobbs,Na Wang,Matthew Bailes,Ramesh Bhat,Sarah Burke-Spolaor,David Champion,William A. Coles,Aidan Hotan,Jonathan Khoo,Stefan Oslowski,John Sarkissian,Joris P. W. Verbiest,D. R. B. Yardley +16 more
TL;DR: Polarization profiles for 20 millisecond pulsars were presented in this article for the Parkes Pulsar Timing Array project, where 13 of the 20 pulsars showed radio emission over more than half of the pulse period, suggesting that the basic radio emission mechanism is the same in both classes of pulsars.
