Kif5b controls the localization of myofibril components for their assembly and linkage to the myotendinous junctions
Zai Wang,Ju Cui,Ju Cui,Wai-Man Wong,Xiuling Li,W Xue,Raozhou Lin,Jing Wang,Peigang Wang,Julian A. Tanner,Kathryn S.E. Cheah,Wutian Wu,Jian-Dong Huang +12 more
TL;DR: It is shown that kinesin-1 heavy chain Kif5b plays important roles in anterograde transport of α-sarcomeric actin, non-muscle myosin IIB, together with intermediate filament proteins desmin and nestin to the growing tips of the elongating myotubes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Targeted inactivation of Kinesin-1 in pancreatic β-cells in vivo leads to insulin secretory deficiency
Ju Cui,Zai Wang,Qianni Cheng,Raozhou Lin,Xin Mei Zhang,Po Sing Leung,Neal G. Copeland,Nancy A. Jenkins,Kwok-Ming Yao,Jian-Dong Huang +9 more
TL;DR: In addition to being essential for maintaining glucose homeostasis and regulatingβ-cell function, Kif5b may be involved in β-cell development by regulating β- cell proliferation and insulin vesicle synthesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Kinesin-1 Regulates Extrasynaptic Targeting of NMDARs and Neuronal Vulnerability Toward Excitotoxicity
Raozhou Lin,Zhigang Duan,Haitao Sun,Haitao Sun,Man-Lung Fung,Hansen Chen,Jing Wang,Chi Fai Lau,Di Yang,Yu Liu,Yanxiang Ni,Yanxiang Ni,Zai Wang,Ju Cui,Wutian Wu,Wutian Wu,Wing-Ho Yung,YS Chan,Amy C. Y. Lo,Jun Xia,Jiangang Shen,Jian-Dong Huang +21 more
TL;DR: It is reported that the reduction of Kif5b, the heavy chain of kinesin-1, protected neurons against NMDA-induced excitotoxicity and ischemia-provoked neurodegeneration and revealed that kines in-1 regulates extrasynaptic NMDAR targeting and signaling, and the reduction could be exploited to defer neurodegenersation.
Journal ArticleDOI
DDX5 and DDX17—multifaceted proteins in the regulation of tumorigenesis and tumor progression
Kun Xu,Shenghui Sun,Mingjing Yan,Ju Cui,Yao Yang,Wen-Lin Li,Xiuqing Huang,Lin Dou,Beidong Chen,Weiqing Tang,Ming Lan,Jian Li,Tao Shen +12 more
TL;DR: The molecular structure features and biological functions of DDX5/DDX17 and their effects on tumorigenesis and tumor progression, as well as their potential clinical application for tumor treatment are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Analysis of Kif5b Expression during Mouse Kidney Development
Ju Cui,Xiuling Li,Zhigang Duan,W Xue,Zai Wang,Song Lu,Raozhou Lin,Mengfei Liu,Guixia Zhu,Jian-Dong Huang +9 more
TL;DR: The distribution of Kif5b displayed spatiotemporal changes during postnatal kidney development, indicating that although K if5b is non-essential for kidney morphogenesis, it is important for nephron maturation.
