Journal ArticleDOI
Dysregulation of maternal serum adiponectin in preterm labor.
Shali Mazaki-Tovi,Roberto Romero,Edi Vaisbuch,Offer Erez,Pooja Mittal,Tinnakorn Chaiworapongsa,Sun Kwon Kim,Percy Pacora,Lami Yeo,Francesca Gotsch,Zhong Dong,Chia Ling Nhan-Chang,Cristiano Jodicke,Bo Hyun Yoon,Sonia S. Hassan,Juan Pedro Kusanovic +15 more
TL;DR: It is proposed that adiponectins and adipokines in general provide a mechanism to organise the metabolic demands generated by the process of preterm parturition regardless of the nature of the insult.
Journal ArticleDOI
Maternal serum adiponectin multimers in patients with a small-for-gestational-age newborn
Shali Mazaki-Tovi,Roberto Romero,Edi Vaisbuch,Offer Erez,Pooja Mittal,Tinnakorn Chaiworapongsa,Sun Kwon Kim,Percy Pacora,Lami Yeo,Francesca Gotsch,Zhong Dong,Bo Hyun Yoon,Sonia S. Hassan,Juan Pedro Kusanovic +13 more
TL;DR: Pregnancies complicated by an SGA neonate are characterized by a alterations in the maternal serum adiponectin multimers concentrations and their relative abundance, and the findings suggest that maternal adipose tissue may play a role, in the pathogenesis of SGA.
Journal ArticleDOI
Objective evaluation of sylvian fissure development by multiplanar 3-dimensional ultrasonography.
Pooja Mittal,Luís F. Gonçalves,Luís F. Gonçalves,Juan Pedro Kusanovic,Juan Pedro Kusanovic,Jimmy Espinoza,Jimmy Espinoza,Wesley Lee,Jyh Kae Nien,Jyh Kae Nien,Eleazar Soto,Eleazar Soto,Roberto Romero,Roberto Romero +13 more
TL;DR: This study was performed to develop an objective ultrasonographic parameter for sylvian fissure evaluation and found it suitable for fetal cerebral cortex sulcation evaluation.
Journal ArticleDOI
A novel ERAP2 haplotype structure in a Chilean population: implications for ERAP2 protein expression and preeclampsia risk
Derek L. Vanhille,Lori D. Hill,DaShaunda D. Hilliard,Eun D. Lee,Maria E. Teves,Sindhu K. Srinivas,Juan Pedro Kusanovic,Juan Pedro Kusanovic,Ricardo Gomez,Efstratios Stratikos,Michal A. Elovitz,Roberto Romero,Jerome F. Strauss +12 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that the Chilean ERAP2 haplotype structure allows for the expression of the major T allele of rs2549782 encoding 392N, which could impact peptide trimming and antigen presentation, which reveals heretofore unrecognized complexity of the ERAP 2 locus.
Journal ArticleDOI
Coexpression of myofibroblast and macrophage markers: novel evidence for an in vivo plasticity of chorioamniotic mesodermal cells of the human placenta.
Sung Su Kim,Roberto Romero,Roberto Romero,Jung Sun Kim,Asad Abbas,Jimmy Espinoza,Jimmy Espinoza,Juan Pedro Kusanovic,Sonia S. Hassan,Sonia S. Hassan,Bo Hyun Yoon,Chong Jai Kim,Chong Jai Kim +12 more
TL;DR: The findings reported herein suggest that the plasticity of mesodermal cells is an effective mechanism of the chorioamniotic membranes to manage several biological needs, such as mucosal immune defense and the maintenance/disruption of physical integrity, with a limited pool of cells.
