Journal ArticleDOI
Plasma soluble endoglin concentration in pre-eclampsia is associated with an increased impedance to flow in the maternal and fetal circulations.
Tinnakorn Chaiworapongsa,Roberto Romero,Juan Pedro Kusanovic,Pooja Mittal,Sun Kwon Kim,Francesca Gotsch,Nandor Gabor Than,Shali Mazaki-Tovi,Edi Vaisbuch,Offer Erez,Lami Yeo,Sonia S. Hassan,Yoram Sorokin +12 more
TL;DR: To examine the relationship between abnormalities in uterine (UtA) and/or umbilical artery (UA) Doppler velocimetry and maternal plasma concentrations of soluble endoglin (sEng) in patients with pre‐eclampsia (PE).
Journal ArticleDOI
Applications of 2-dimensional matrix array for 3- and 4-dimensional examination of the fetus: a pictorial essay.
Luís F. Gonçalves,Jimmy Espinoza,Jimmy Espinoza,Juan Pedro Kusanovic,Wesley Lee,Jyh Kae Nien,Joaquin Santolaya-Forgas,Joaquin Santolaya-Forgas,Giancarlo Mari,Giancarlo Mari,Marjorie C. Treadwell,Roberto Romero +11 more
TL;DR: This technology allows examination of fetal structures from multiple perspectives, in real time, without the need to move the transducer in the maternal abdomen, and real‐time direct 4D imaging with 360° rotation for examination of Fetal anatomic structures is feasible.
Journal ArticleDOI
Serum and plasma determination of angiogenic and anti-angiogenic factors yield different results: the need for standardization in clinical practice.
Giovanna Ogge,Roberto Romero,Juan Pedro Kusanovic,Tinnakorn Chaiworapongsa,Zhong Dong,Pooja Mittal,Edi Vaisbuch,Shali Mazaki-Tovi,Juan M. Gonzalez,Lami Yeo,Sonia S. Hassan +10 more
TL;DR: The matrix used for the assay (serum versus plasma) needs to be considered when selecting thresholds for predictive studies and interpreting the growing body of literature on this subject.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fragment Bb in Amniotic Fluid: Evidence for complement activation by the alternative pathway in women with Intra-amniotic Infection/Inflammation
Edi Vaisbuch,Roberto Romero,Offer Erez,Shali Mazaki-Tovi,Juan Pedro Kusanovic,Eleazar Soto,Francesca Gotsch,Zhong Dong,Tinnakorn Chaiworapongsa,Sun Kwon Kim,Pooja Mittal,Percy Pacora,Lami Yeo,Sonia S. Hassan +13 more
TL;DR: Findings suggest a role for fragment Bb in the host immune response against IAI, a physiologic constituent of the AF, and its concentration increases with advancing gestational age and in pregnancies complicated with IAI.
Journal ArticleDOI
The risk of impending preterm delivery in asymptomatic patients with a nonmeasurable cervical length in the second trimester
Edi Vaisbuch,Edi Vaisbuch,Roberto Romero,Roberto Romero,Shali Mazaki-Tovi,Shali Mazaki-Tovi,Offer Erez,Offer Erez,Juan Pedro Kusanovic,Juan Pedro Kusanovic,Pooja Mittal,Pooja Mittal,Francesca Gotsch,Clara Ward,Vivian Romero,Tinnakorn Chaiworapongsa,Tinnakorn Chaiworapongsa,Percy Pacora,Lami Yeo,Lami Yeo,Sonia S. Hassan,Sonia S. Hassan +21 more
TL;DR: Asymptomatic women with a nonmeasurable cervix in the second trimester have a median diagnosis-to-delivery interval of approximately 3 weeks, but almost 65% of these patients will not deliver within 2 weeks, yet 75% of them will deliver before 32 weeks of gestation.
