Journal ArticleDOI
Chromosome aberrations and cancer
TL;DR: The association of consistent chromosome aberrations with particular types of cancer has led to the identification of some of these genes and the elucidation of their mechanisms of action.
Journal ArticleDOI
MLL is fused to CBP, a histone acetyltransferase, in therapy-related acute myeloid leukemia with a t(11;16)(q23;p13.3)
Olatoyosi M. Sobulo,Julian Borrow,Ronald J. Tomek,Shalini C. Reshmi,A Harden,Brigitte Schlegelberger,David E. Housman,Norman A. Doggett,Janet D. Rowley,Nancy J. Zeleznik-Le +9 more
TL;DR: CBP is the first partner gene of MLL containing well defined structural and functional motifs that provide unique insights into the potential mechanisms by which these translocations contribute to leukemogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Constitutional and somatic rearrangement of chromosome 21 in acute lymphoblastic leukaemia
Yang Li,Claire Schwab,Sarra Ryan,Elli Papaemmanuil,Hazel M. Robinson,Patricia Jacobs,Anthony V. Moorman,Sara Dyer,Julian Borrow,Mike Griffiths,Nyla A. Heerema,Andrew J. Carroll,Polly Talley,Nick Bown,Nick Telford,Fiona M. Ross,Lorraine Gaunt,Richard J. Q. McNally,Bryan D. Young,Paul Sinclair,Vikki Rand,Manuel R. Teixeira,Olivia Joseph,Ben Robinson,Mark Maddison,Nicole Dastugue,Peter Vandenberghe,Claudia Haferlach,Philip J. Stephens,Jiqiu Cheng,Peter Van Loo,Peter Van Loo,Michael R. Stratton,Peter J. Campbell,Peter J. Campbell,Christine J. Harrison +35 more
TL;DR: It is shown that individuals born with the rare constitutional Robertsonian translocation between chromosomes 15 and 21, rob(15;21)(q10;q10)c, have approximately 2,700-fold increased risk of developing iAMP21 ALL compared to the general population.
Journal ArticleDOI
All Patients With the T(11; 16)(q23; p13.3) That Involves MLL and CBP Have Treatment-Related Hematologic Disorders
Janet D. Rowley,Shalini C. Reshmi,Olatoyosi M. Sobulo,Tarannum Musvee,John Anastasi,Susana C. Raimondi,Nancy R. Schneider,Julio C. Barredo,Eduardo S. Cantu,Brigitte Schlegelberger,Frederick G. Behm,Norman A. Doggett,Julian Borrow,Nancy J. Zeleznik-Le +13 more
TL;DR: All the mature monocytes contain the fusion genes as did some of the granulocytes and erythroblasts; none of the lymphocytes contained the fusion gene, and it is assumed that the critical fusion gene is 5'MLL/3'CBP.
Journal ArticleDOI
The histone acetyl transferase activity of monocytic leukemia zinc finger is critical for the proliferation of hematopoietic precursors.
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the failure to maintain a normal number of hematopoietic precursors is caused by the inability of HAT(-/-) cells to expand, indicating a specific role of MOZ-driven acetylation in controlling a desirable balance between proliferation and differentiation during hematoiesis.
