Journal ArticleDOI
EWS is a substrate of type I protein arginine methyltransferase, PRMT8.
TL;DR: This study determined that EWS was physically associated with PRMT8, the novel eighth member of the PRMT family, through the COOH-terminal region of EWS including RGG3 with the NH2- terminal region ofPRMT8 encompassing the S-adenosyl-L-methionine binding domain, and that arginine residues in EWS were asymmetrically dimethylated by PRMT 8 using amino acid analysis with thin-layer chromatography
Journal ArticleDOI
Protein arginine methyltransferase 7 has a novel homodimer-like structure formed by tandem repeats
TL;DR: The structural data indicated that PRMT7 harbors two tandem repeated PRMT core domains that form a novel homodimer‐like structure, and Mutagenesis demonstrated that only the N‐terminal catalytic site ofPRMT7 is responsible for cofactor binding.
Journal ArticleDOI
PRMT8 as a phospholipase regulates Purkinje cell dendritic arborization and motor coordination
Jun-Dal Kim,Kyung-Eui Park,Junji Ishida,Koichiro Kako,Juri Hamada,Shuichi Kani,Miki Takeuchi,Miki Takeuchi,Kana Namiki,Hajime Fukui,Shigetomo Fukuhara,Masahiko Hibi,Makoto Kobayashi,Yasunori Kanaho,Yoshitoshi Kasuya,Naoki Mochizuki,Akiyoshi Fukamizu +16 more
TL;DR: It is shown that protein arginine methyltransferase 8 (PRMT8) acts as a phospholipase that directly hydrolyzes PC, generating choline and phosphatidic acid, and suggests that PRMT8 acts both as an arginin methyl transferase and as a PC-hydrolyzing PLD that is essential for proper neurological functions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mechanism for p38α-mediated Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis
Kana Namiki,Hirofumi Matsunaga,Hirofumi Matsunaga,Kento Yoshioka,Kensuke Tanaka,Kazuya Murata,Junji Ishida,Akira Sakairi,Jun-Dal Kim,Naoki Tokuhara,Shibakawa Nobuhiko,Motohisa Shimizu,Yukinori Wada,Yasunori Tokunaga,Manabu Shigetomi,Masahiko Hagihara,Sadao Kimura,Tatsuhiko Sudo,Akiyoshi Fukamizu,Yoshitoshi Kasuya +19 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that p38α participates in the pathogenesis of EAE through IL-17 induction, and positively regulates transcription of the Il17 gene.
Journal ArticleDOI
Calreticulin and integrin alpha dissociation induces anti-inflammatory programming in animal models of inflammatory bowel disease
Masayoshi Ohkuro,Jun-Dal Kim,Yoshikazu Kuboi,Yuki Hayashi,Hayase Mizukami,Hiroko Kobayashi-Kuramochi,Kenzo Muramoto,Manabu Shirato,Fumiko Michikawa-Tanaka,Jun Moriya,Teruya Kozaki,Kazuma Takase,Kenichi Chiba,Kishan Agarwala,Takayuki Kimura,Makoto Kotake,Tetsuya Kawahara,Naoki Yoneda,Shinsuke Hirota,Hiroshi Azuma,Nobuko Ozasa-Komura,Yoshiaki Ohashi,Masafumi Muratani,Keiji Kimura,Ieharu Hishinuma,Akiyoshi Fukamizu +25 more
TL;DR: It is proposed that leukocytes infiltration via the binding of CRT to ITGAs is necessary for the onset and development of the colitis and the inhibition of this interaction may be a novel therapeutic strategy for the treatment of IBD.
