Illuminating the dark corridor in graphene: polarization dependence of angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy on graphene

TL;DR: In this paper, angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) was used to image the electronic structure of epitaxial graphene near the (K) over bar point.
Journal ArticleDOI

Spin-orbit split two-dimensional electron gas with tunable Rashba and Fermi energy

TL;DR: In this paper, it is shown that it is possible to tune the Rashba energy and the Fermi energy in a two-dimensional electron gas by a controlled change of stoichiometry in an artificial surface alloy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hybridization between the unoccupied Shockley surface state and bulk electronic states on Cu(111)

TL;DR: In this paper, the dispersion of the occupied and unoccupied Shockley surface state of Cu(111) was investigated and the authors ascribe this deviation to the shift of the spectral weight of the surface state into the bulk and of bulk states toward the surface, which leads to an enhanced hybridization between the states with increasing energy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Interference of spin states in photoemission from Sb/Ag(111) surface alloys

TL;DR: In this paper, a three-dimensional spin polarimeter was used to study the interference of spin states in photoemission from the surface alloy Sb/Ag(111), which features a small spin splitting of a size comparable to the momentum broadening of the quasiparticles, thus causing an intrinsic overlap between states with orthogonal spinors.
