Journal ArticleDOI
G protein-coupled receptor 30 is an estrogen receptor in the plasma membrane.
TL;DR: Data indicate that GPR30, a transmembrane receptor for estrogen, is localized to the plasma membrane of CA2 pyramidal neuronal cells of the hippocampus in rat brain.
Journal ArticleDOI
Developmental defects of the ventromedial hypothalamic nucleus and pituitary gonadotroph in the Ftz‐F1 disrupted mice
Koh Shinoda,Hong Lei,Hironori Yoshii,Masatoshi Nomura,Mamoru Nagano,Hiroharu Shiba,Hiroshi Sasaki,Yoshio Osawa,Yasuharu Ninomiya,Ohtsura Niwa,Ken Ichirou Morohashi,En Li +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, double immunostaining of the pituitary for Ad4BP and trophic peptide hor- mones, FSH, TSH, and ACTH, indicated a re-stricted localization of the transcription factor to the gonadotroph.
Journal ArticleDOI
WFS1 (Wolfram syndrome 1) gene product: predominant subcellular localization to endoplasmic reticulum in cultured cells and neuronal expression in rat brain
Koumei Takeda,Hiroshi Inoue,Yukio Tanizawa,Yumiko Matsuzaki,Jun Oba,Yoshifumi Watanabe,Koh Shinoda,Yoshitomo Oka +7 more
TL;DR: A specific antibody against the C-terminus of the WFS1 protein is generated and its subcellular localization in cultured cells suggests that this protein plays an as yet undefined role in membrane trafficking, protein processing and/or regulation of ER calcium homeostasis.
Journal ArticleDOI
An in vivo model for monitoring trans-differentiation of bone marrow cells into functional hepatocytes
Shuji Terai,Isao Sakaida,Naoki Yamamoto,Kaoru Omori,Tomomi Watanabe,Shinya Ohata,Toshiaki Katada,Koji Miyamoto,Koh Shinoda,Hiroshi Nishina,Kiwamu Okita +10 more
TL;DR: The present study found that persistent injury induces efficient trans-differentiation of BMCs into functional hepatocytes through immature hepatoblasts in mice with liver cirrhosis induced by carbon tetrachloride, revealing that recipient conditions and microenvironments represent key factors for successful cell therapy using BMCs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Expression of estrogen receptors (α, β) and androgen receptor in serotonin neurons of the rat and mouse dorsal raphe nuclei; sex and species differences
Zijing Sheng,June Kawano,Akie Yanai,Ryutaro Fujinaga,Mayumi Tanaka,Yoshifumi Watanabe,Koh Shinoda +6 more
TL;DR: The results strongly suggest that sex steroids can modulate the affective regulation of the serotonergic system through ERα and/or ERβ in 5-HT neurons of the mouse rostral DRN (but not so much through AR), and that such effects might be different depending on the sex and species.
